FlyQuest vs NRG Predictions

FlyQuest and NRG will clash on Sunday, August 18, in the first round of the League of Legends Championship Series (LCS) 2024 Championship. The two teams last met in the second week of the LCS 2024 Summer regular season when FlyQuest won, and they're expected to come out ahead again.

FlyQuest are priced as 1.10 favourites to defeat NRG with the best League of Legends bookmakers, while NRG are 5.80 underdogs for the upcoming best-of-three (BO3) series. This isn't as surprising, considering FlyQuest were one of the top teams of the regular season, but the price difference is still substantial.

  • FlyQuest ended LCS 2024 Summer with a 5-2 record
  • NRG managed just two wins in the regular season
  • FlyQuest already bested NRG this split

Head to Head

NRG and FlyQuest last met in the second week of the LCS 2024 Summer regular season, when FlyQuest won.

  • FlyQuest 2-1 NRG – June 23, 2024

FlyQuest Form

FlyQuest placed third in the LCS 2024 Summer season with a 5-2 record. Their two defeats came against the top two teams in Cloud9 and Team Liquid, but they did not struggle to beat any of the remaining seven opponents.

While not as good as Cloud9 nor Team Liquid, FlyQuest are clearly a tier above any team that placed below them in LCS 2024 Summer. The problem with FlyQuest is that they've not been that decisive in their wins, so while they took care of business against weaker LoL esports teams, not one game can be considered great.

While this doesn't mean FlyQuest can't play at a higher level; their past performances don't inspire as much confidence, which should beg the question of whether they're rightly priced as 1.10 favourites with Stake.

FlyQuest Squad & Team News

No roster changes for FlyQuest.

  • Gabriël "Bwipo" Rau – top lane
  • Kacper "Inspired" Słoma – jungle
  • Song "Quad" Su-hyeong – mid lane
  • Fahad "Massu" Abdulmalek – ADC
  • Alan "Busio" Cwalina – support

NRG Form

NRG barely reached the LCS 2024 Championship by ending the LCS 2024 Summer with a 2-5 record. Out of the seven series played, NRG have only beaten Immortals and Shopify Rebellion – the only two teams who've not reached the final stage of the split.

Given their results, it's fair to say that NRG are easily the weakest team attending the LCS Championship 2024. Some might argue they're up there with 100 Thieves, but hardly anything more than that.

The bottom four teams in the LCS have shown little throughout the summer split. While NRG did take a map off FlyQuest in their last meeting, that hardly means anything, nor does it prove they're even remotely as good.

NRG Squad & Team News

NRG have not announced any roster changes.

  • Niship "Dhokla" Doshi – top lane
  • Juan Arturo "Contractz" Garcia – jungle
  • Cristian "Palafox" Palafox – mid lane
  • Ian Victor "FBI" Huang – ADC
  • Choi "huhi" Jae-hyun – support

Verdict

NRG ended the LCS 2024 Summer regular season as one of the worst-performing teams in the league, so it's fair to see them priced as underdogs for this series. However, NRG have shown they can jump out to leads in games once in a while, which just might be enough for them to do some damage here.

FlyQuest are the superior team, with better players and a much higher ceiling. However, they're unreliable and unconvincing despite all the talent FlyQuest have on the roster. So even though FlyQuest are rightly priced as favourites, 1.10 is pushing it a bit.

As wrong as it may seem to trust NRG, they're a solid pick to win at least one map at 1.58. Not so much because NRG are actually good enough to win, but because FlyQuest are inconsistent enough to let at least one slip.
