Fnatic vs Team BDS Predictions

Fnatic and Team BDS will clash on Saturday, July 1, in the first round of the final week of the League of Legends EMEA Championship (LEC) 2023 Summer regular season. According to the latest LoL betting odds, Fnatic should win easily, and there's little to suggest otherwise.

Esports betting sites have Fnatic priced as 1.25 favourites to defeat Team BDS, who enter the match as 3.75 underdogs. The offered odds make a lot of sense, considering Fnatic are 5-1 while Team BDS have managed just two wins this split, but are Fnatic good enough to be priced as such big favourites?

  • Fnatic's only defeat came against G2 Esports
  • Team BDS are on a two-game losing streak
  • Fnatic are expected to win comfortably

Head to Head

Fnatic and Team BDS have yet to meet with their current rosters.

Fnatic Form

Fnatic needed a few months, but they finally got things figured out. The new bottom lane project is proving to be a success, and the rest of the team is doing more than fine. Their only defeat of the season happened against G2 Esports, but besides that, Fnatic looked excellent in their wins against Astralis, Excel Esports, KOI, MAD Lions, and Team Vitality.

However, as much as Fnatic deserve to sit at the top of the league table, the current meta makes it difficult to bet on heavy favourites. Teams now win games simply by not making mistakes, so most of the squads who sit at the bottom of the league table are prone to making errors.

Fnatic haven't given an impression of a team that will slip, but how the game is played now, every team can easily lose. So is that good enough of a reason to fade a team that is 5-1 ahead of the final week of the split?

Fnatic Squad & Team News

No changes for Fnatic.

  • Óscar "Oscarinin" Muñoz Jiménez – top lane
  • Iván "Razork" Martín Díaz – jungle
  • Marek "Humanoid" Brázda – mid lane
  • Oh "Noah" Hyeon-taek – ADC
  • Adrian "Trymbi" Trybus - support

Team BDS Form

Team BDS made the finals of LEC 2023 Spring but are now, just a couple of months later, in serious danger of not reaching the next stage of LEC 2023 Summer. With a 2-4 record, Team BDS are tied with SK Gaming, KOI, and Astralis for sixth place, so their situation isn't as bad as it may seem; however, Team BDS also have a very tough schedule ahead, with Fnatic, Vitality, and MAD Lions as their final three opponents of the season.

Evidently, Team BDS overperformed last split, so we shouldn't put too much focus on their past achievement. So where do Team BDS stand?

They're not nearly as good as they seemed in LEC 2023 Spring, but Team BDS are definitely better than how they've looked split. Yet until they start showing something, it's hard to justify saying that BDS are solid.

Team BDS Squad & Team News

Team BDS have not announced any roster changes.

  • Adam "Adam" Maanane – top lane
  • Théo "Sheo" Borile – jungle
  • Ilias "nuc" Bizriken – mid lane
  • Juš "Crownie" Marušič – ADC
  • Labros "Labrov" Papoutsakis – support

Verdict

Betting on heavy favourites in this meta is scary, knowing that Fnatic are just one minor early game mistake away from putting themselves in a tough spot and potentially losing the game. However, as much as it's fair to feel concerned with variance, Fnatic are objectively significantly stronger than Team BDS.

Team BDS have the second-worst performance stats in the league, whereas Fnatic are the complete opposite, and even the eye test proves that Fnatic are a class above Team BDS. Is that enough to take Fnatic to cover the 8.5 kill handicap?

I usually like to stay away from big kill handicaps, but it's a fair choice here. Fnatic are the bloodiest team in LEC with 17.7 average kills and just 9.5 deaths, whereas Team BDS have so far averaged just 7.8 kills with 14.8 deaths.
