Esports betting sites have Excel Esports priced as 6.00 underdogs to defeat G2 Esports, who enter the match as 1.11 favourites. At the offered LoL esports betting odds, G2 Esports are given a 90.1% implied probability of winning the game, which sounds fair, but it's still a huge number., which begs the question of whether there's some value backing Excel.

  • G2 Esports are the leading favourites to win the LEC 2023 Summer
  • Excel Esports have proven to be very competitive
  • G2 Esports should win, but Excel shouldn't be ignored

Head to Head

G2 Esports and Excel Esports last met in the final week of the LEC 2023 Summer regular season, when G2 Esports won.

  • G2 Esports 1-0 Excel Esports - July 2, 2023

G2 Esports Form

G2 Esports entered LEC 2023 Summer as the main favourites to win the split, and they've yet to disappoint. After finishing the regular season in first place with just one defeat against MAD Lions in the opening week, G2 Esports cruised through the LEC 2023 Summer Groups with two wins against KOI (2-0) and Team BDS (2-0).

As a team that was known to clown around too much in the regular season, G2 Esports looked very composed in the LEC 2023 Summer Groups, which is a scary sign for all other remaining teams, since we might now be getting G2 Esports playing at their full potential. This is, however, still a big "if", as G2 Esports, despite how strong they are, like to play with their food, and it's only a matter of time before they get punished for it.

That's not to say that G2 Esports are in real danger of losing against Excel Esports, but there's a good chance they will lose a map.

G2 Esports Squad & Team News

G2 Esports won't make any roster changes.

  • Sergen "BrokenBlade" Çelik – top lane
  • Martin "Yike" Sundelin – jungle
  • Rasmus "Caps" Borregaard Winther – mid lane
  • Steven "Hans Sama" Liv – ADC

Excel Esports Form

Excel Esports went from finishing the last two splits in 10th place to ending LEC 2023 Summer regular season in third, with a 5-4 record. Even though Excel haven't produced the highest win rate, they looked good in the latter part of the split and didn't disappoint in the LEC 2023 Summer Groups either.

With a 2-0 sweep of MAD Lions and a close but well-deserved win against SK Gaming (2-1) in Group B finals, Excel Esports have secured themselves a spot in the playoffs, where they'll look to continue their streak.

Excel Esports are 7-1 from their last eight games, which includes two best-of-three wins against MAD and SK, while their only defeat happened against G2 Esports. It's more than fair to say that Excel are in good form and look like a competitive team. But will it be enough to derail G2 Esports?

Excel Esports Squad & Team News

No changes for Excel Esports.

  • Andrei "Odoamne" Pascu – top lane
  • Lee "Peach" Min-gyu – jungle
  • Felix "Abbedagge" Braun – mid lane
  • Patrik "Patrik" Jírů – ADC
  • Dino "LIMIT" Tot – support

Verdict

G2 Esports are objectively the best team in the LEC, so it's not surprising to see them priced as 1.11 favourites for Monday's match. However, at this number, betting on G2 Esports makes no sense.

Despite how good G2 Esports can be, they are still a team that will clown around and give their opponents too much space.

This might not be the case in the playoffs, assuming G2 Esports will take all of their matches seriously, in which case, G2 Esports should sweep. But at the offered betting odds, we're getting far more value backing Excel Esports to win at least one map.
