G2 Esports lost to Gen.G in the first round, while FlyQuest fell to Anyone's Legend, both with 1-3. Even though G2 Esports won a map against a stronger team, that does not necessarily make them better, as G2 got smashed in the remaining three maps after Gen.G shook off the rust.

FlyQuest fared much better against Anyone's Legend and showed better things, from drafting to decision making and individual performances. On paper, G2 Esports might seem like the better team, but the eye test proves otherwise.

  • G2 Esports are in bad shape
  • FlyQuest should be able to handle LEC's second seed
  • The right team is favoured

G2 Esports Form

G2 Esports started their Mid-Season Invitational 2025 bracket stage campaign with a 1-3 loss against tournament favourites, Gen.G.

G2 Esports won the first map, largely thanks to SkewMond's strong showings on Maokai. The remaining three maps were not close. Maps two and three were absolute trashing from Gen.G, and while G2 Esports showed some things on map four, Gen.G were never in danger of losing.

Even though G2 Esports were not expected to stop Gen.G, it is very clear that they're not in the best shape and struggling. The question is whether their struggles are enough to stop G2 from beating FlyQuest.

G2 Esports Squad & Team News

G2 Esports have not made any roster changes.

  • Sergen "BrokenBlade" Çelik – top lane
  • Rudy "SkewMond" Semaan – jungle
  • Rasmus "Caps" Winther – mid lane
  • Steven "Hans Sama" Liv – ADC
  • Labros "Labrov" Papoutsakis – support

FlyQuest Form

FlyQuest had a solid showing against Anyone's Legend in the first round of the bracket stage. They picked up the first map, but lost the next three, although those were not as one-sided as G2's against Gen.G.

Looking at their performance numbers, FlyQuest are a very stable team. They rarely fall behind early, but they also don't get significant leads. Their mid-late game is solid, and macro is not terrible either.

FlyQuest are also very good at preventing their opponents from closing out games, with an admirable level of resilience.

FlyQuest Squad & Team News

No changes for FlyQuest.

  • Gabriël "Bwipo" Rau – top lane
  • Kacper "Inspired" Słoma – jungle
  • Song "Quad" Soo-hyung – mid lane
  • Fahad "Massu" Abdulmalek – ADC
  • Alan "Busio" Cwalina – support

Verdict

G2 Esports are viewed as underdogs for this match, despite taking a map off a much stronger opponent in the first round. However, they've looked nothing short of disappointing so far this tournament, and winning one map against Gen.G in their first match of the event is hardly inspiring.

FlyQuest are numbers-wise a better team, and the eye test would confirm it. While there is a world where G2 Esports wake up and perform well, they've not been in the greatest of shape this entire split, so I would not count on any miracles.
