Esports betting sites have G2 Esports priced as massive 1.14 favourites to defeat KOI, who enter the match as 5.00 underdogs. The offered LoL betting odds make a lot of sense if we consider how much better G2 Esports have looked this split than KOI and most other teams, but G2 Esports are also known to mess around a bit too much, which could leave them vulnerable.
- G2 Esports won the LEC 2023 Summer regular season
- KOI barely made it to the LEC 2023 Summer Groups
- G2 Esports are 2-1 against KOI in best-of series this season
Head to Head
G2 Esports and KOI last met during the LEC 2023 Summer regular season, when G2 Esports won. The two teams have previously met in the LEC 2023 Winter Playoffs (G2 3-1) and twice during LEC 2023 Spring Groups (2-1 for KOI, 2-1 for G2), albeit with different rosters.
G2 Esports 1-0 KOI – Sunday, July 2, 2023
G2 Esports Form
G2 Esports won the LEC 2023 Summer regular season with an 8-1 record, with just one loss against MAD Lions in the opening week of the split. Since then, G2 Esports have beaten Fnatic, Vitality, SK Gaming, Astralis, Excel Esports, KOI, and Team Heretics.
Some of those wins were close, but not because G2 Esports were properly challenged, but rather because G2 Esports played with their food too much. This is easily the best team in the LEC and seems to be so much stronger that they’re a bit too bored in their games – which explains why G2 Esports tend to mess around.
Without trying to sound too biased, G2 Esports can only lose to themselves. They rank first across nearly all performance stats in the league and field some of the best players in their respective roles. So as much as it’s possible for G2 Esports to lose, this is highly unlikely if G2 pull it together and play at 100%.

KOI Form
KOI barely made it to the LEC 2023 Summer Groups, with a 4-5 record – just one win against Astralis (3-6). Over the season, KOI have shown some signs of greatness, but this is a very two-faced team. They’ll look good one day and turn into a pumpkin the next, and you don’t really know what to expect of them.
If KOI can find some consistency, this could be a competitive team, but it’s tough to trust them with our money before we see more stability. Given their ability to play better than what they’ve shown this split, KOI are an excellent underdog pick since they’re actually better than how it may seem.
But at one point, you have to draw a line and accept that KOI, even on a good day, shouldn’t be able to defeat G2 Esports unless – as noted before – G2 Esports allow them.
KOI Squad & Team News
KOI wil not make any roster changes.
- Mathias "Szygenda" Jensen – top lane
- Kim "Malrang" Geun-seong – jungle
- Emil "Larssen" Larsson – mid lane
- Markos "Comp" Stamkopoulos – ADC
- Henk "Advienne" Reijenga – support
Verdict
Assuming both teams play at 100%, G2 Esports are significantly better than KOI, and the fact that KOI are very inconsistent makes me like G2 more.
Admittedly, G2 Esports have shown cracks and nearly lost a couple more games, but it mostly had to do with them getting so far ahead that they allowed themselves to have some fun. And yet they finished the season 9-1.
