Gen.G entered the tournament as the main favourites, and they've kept their tag despite the slow start to the series against G2 Esports. Anyone's Legend, on the other hand, were just as successful in the opening round, when they bested FlyQuest, but have not looked as crisp as Gen.G throughout the split.

Still, after what Anyone's Legend have shown in the first round, it is not beyond the realms of possibility that they play spoiler on Friday.

  • Anyone's Legend looked very good in the first round
  • Gen.G seem to be still shaking off the rust
  • Anyone's Legend can take a bite out of Gen.G

Head to Head

This is the first clash between Gen.G and Anyone's Legend this season.

Gen.G Form

Gen.G kicked off their Mid-Season Invitational 2025 campaign with a 3-1 victory against G2 Esports. It was a predictable result, but the series did not start the way many expected.

G2 Esports picked up the first map by preventing Gen.G from creating lane priority, which their draft relied on. Much of it was thanks to G2's jungler, who was a menace on Maokai. However, after the first round, it was a one-way traffic, with Gen.G picking up the next three maps without any issues.

The series showed that Gen.G had to shake off the rust, and it is fair to say that they might be back in form. However, G2 Esports are not in the best shape, so it is hard to praise Gen.G too much for that success.

Gen.G Squad & Team News

No changes for Gen.G.

  • Kim "Kiin" Ki-in – top lane
  • Kim "Canyon" Geon-bu – jungle
  • Jeong "Chovy" Ji-hoon – mid lane
  • Park "Ruler" Jae-hyuk – ADC
  • Joo "Duro" Min-kyu – support

Anyone's Legend Form

Anyone's Legend took down FlyQuest in the first round of the bracket stage, thus defeating arguably the best Western LoL esports team. The match was not one-sided, but that also has to do with the style of play the two teams prefer – a slow and methodical approach.

FlyQuest played well but still came out short, which proves two things - FlyQuest are good and Anyone's Legend are even better.

A lot of Anyone's Legend's success on the day was due to their mid laner, Shanks, who played incredibly well. And if he can keep performing like that, Anyone's Legend will be a threat to win the whole thing.

Anyone's Legend Squad & Team News

Anyone's Legend have not announced any roster changes.

  • Li "Flandre" Xuanjun – top lane
  • Lee "Tarzan" Seung-yong – jungle
  • Cui "Shanks" Xiaojun – mid lane
  • Wang "Hope" Jie – ADC
  • Kim "Kael" Jin-hong – support

Verdict

Gen.G are the tournament favourites and arguably the best team in the world. However, they've not had the greatest start to the event, where it became obvious that they need to shake off some of the rust first before we will get to see Gen.G we all know.

Anyone's Legend are no slouches. While they were not billed as one of the top favourites, Anyone's Legend are an elite team, and after their showing against FlyQuest, it is easy to believe that AL can hold their own against Gen.G.

Even though they need to improve from their performance against G2, Gen.G are the most likely victors here. But I would not be shocked ot see Anyone's Legend cause an upset or at least keep the series close.
