Gen.G enter LCK 2025 Road to MSI as the clear favourite to win the event, having recently completed a perfect 18-0 run through the regular season. That run included two victories against Hanwha Life Esports (2-0 and 2-1).

Hanwha Life Esports have done incredibly well this split, but they've not managed to outclass Gen.G, and there is little to suggest anything will change on Friday.

  • Gen.G are the league's strongest team
  • Hanwha Life Esports are 0-2 down in the head-to-head
  • Another victory for Gen.G is on the cards

Head to Head

Gen.G and Hanwha Life Esports have met twice this split, and both games ended in Gen.G's favour.

  • Gen.G 2-0 Hanwha Life Esports – April 2, 2025
  • Gen.G 2-1 Hanwha Life Esports – May 21, 2025

Gen.G Form

Gen.G played their last match of the split on May 31, when they defeated OKSavingsBank BRION and completed a perfect split (18-0). They solidified their status as the league's best LoL esports team and the leading candidates to win the LCK 2025 Road to MSI.

There is not much to be said about Gen.G that has not already been said. They're by far the most dominant team of LCK and arguably the best-performing team in the world.

Gen.G are extremely talented individually and work like a well-oiled machine, with a strong read on meta, excellent macro, and resilience to making errors. Moreover, Gen.G are very efficient in taking advantage of the opponent's mistakes and using them to their advantage.

Gen.G Squad & Team News

Gen.G have not made any roster changes.

  • Kim "Kiin" Gi-in – top lane
  • Kim "Canyon" Geon-bu – jungle
  • Jeong "Chovy" Ji-hoon – mid lane
  • Park "Ruler" Jae-hyuk – ADC
  • Joo "Duro" Min-kyu – support

Hanwha Life Esports Form

Hanwha Life Esports ended the LCK 2025 Rounds 1-2 group stage with a 14-4 record, which was enough for a runner-up finish. They played exceptionally well, continuing where they left off in the first split of the season.

However, as good as HLE have been, they were unable to make it past Gen.G, who bested them twice. The most recent meeting ended in three maps, which should give HLE hope that they can leave a dent in Gen.G this Friday.

However, the said series could've easily ended in a 2-0 sweep for Gen.G had Viper not had a carry performance on Ezreal, which was a perfect pick into Gen. G's composition.

Hanwha Life Esports Squad & Team News

No changes for Hanwha Life Esports.

  • Choi "Zeus" Woo-je – top lane
  • Han "Peanut" Wang-ho – jungle
  • Kim "Zeka" Geon-woo – mid lane
  • Park "Viper" Do-hyeon – ADC
  • Yoo "Delight" Hwan-joong – support

Verdict

In their most recent meeting, Hanwha Life Esports took a bite out of Gen.G and have been playing well overall this season. However, despite that minor accomplishment, Hanwha Life Esports have not been at the same level as Gen.G.

Even though HLE are a very strong squad and arguably one of the top four in the world ahead of the Mid-Season Invitational, Gen.G seem to be in a class of its own, and the latest odds reflect it.

I give Hanwha Life Esports one map, but anything more seems unlikely.
