Karmine Corp enter the playoffs in great form, having won the regular season with just one defeat over nine games played. Movistar KOI were not as successful, managing a 6-3 record, albeit they have produced a few notable games.

The main issue with Movistar KOI is their lack of consistency and inability to perform day after day. However, with low lows also came high highs, suggesting KOI can beat anyone on a good day – the main question is which version of Movistar KOI will we get this weekend.

Movistar KOI Form

Movistar KOI have been shaky during the group stage, dropping games and maps against weaker opponents. Their numbers haven't been that great either, but they have had some notable performances.

During the first stage of the split, KOI have beaten Team Heretics, Team BDS, Fnatic, SK Gaming, GIANTX, and Rogue.

Besides that one victory against Fnatic, they have not really shown anything too inspiring. On the other hand, Movistar KOI took maps off the other two good teams – G2 Esports and Karmine Corp.

This just goes to show that Movistar KOI are feisty underdogs and capable of beating good teams. Yet they fail to be consistent.

Movistar KOI Squad & Team News

No changes for Movistar KOI.

  • Alex "Myrwn" Villarejo – top lane
  • Javier "Elyoya" Prades – jungle
  • Joseph "Jojopyun" Pyun – mid lane
  • David "Supa" Garcia – ADC
  • Álvaro Fernández "Alvaro" del Amo – support

Karmine Corp Form

Are Karmine Corp actually a good team? They won the group stage with an 8-1 record and have shown immense improvement compared to the first split of the LoL esports season.

They have had games where Karmine Corp looked legitimately good, but we have seen all that before, so the main concern is whether KC will turn back into a pumpkin. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and say that will not be the case.

It is also important to note that Karmine Corp's most notable improvement came during a stretch when they faced weaker teams – SK, Heretics, GIANTX, Rogue, and Vitality. Still, they defeated G2 Esports, so take that as you may.

Karmine Corp Squad & Team News

Karmine Corp have not announced any changes.

  • Kim "Canna" Chang-dong – top lane
  • Martin "Yike" Sundelin – jungle
  • Vladimiros "Vladi" Kourtidis – mid lane
  • Caliste "Caliste" Henry-Hennebert – ADC
  • Raphaël "Targamas" Crabbé – support

Verdict

Karmine Corp have been more successful than Movistar KOI this season, mainly because they've been more consistent. On the other side, KOI have not looked terrible.

Admittedly, they are very feast-or-famine, but Movistar have had very high highs and even in the games they lost, against stronger opponents, they were competitive.

With the underdogs, you never know which version of KOI you are going to get, but at the same time, Karmine Corp's best games came against weaker opponents, which inflated their numbers a bit.

Karmine Corp probably win, but I expect this to be a competitive game.
