League of Legends Champions Korea Betting Tips & LCK Live Streams
About League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK)
League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) is the primary League of Legends (LoL) competition in South Korea. Like most LoL competitions, the tournament is contested by the 10 best LoL teams in the region.
The competition is organized by Riot Games and the Korea e-Sports Association (KeSPA).
The LCK is one of the oldest regional LoL tournaments. It was founded in 2012 but has gone through many changes in that time – this includes the name LCK.
In 2012, The Champions Spring was established. This was a LoL tournament launched by OnGameNet and included 16 teams. The spring tournament was followed by The Champions Summer, and this was followed by a winter event: The Champions Winter.
This tri-tournament structure was followed for two years before the structure was rebranded as the LCK in 2015. The winter split was also removed with this rebrand.
The other big change was going from 16 teams to 10 teams. A round-robin group stage with playoff brackets was also adopted. The top five teams qualified for the playoffs.
Another important change was not allowing more than one side of an organization to participate. KeSPA was represented by two sides before this change. The LCK became what it is today in 2015.
In the early years, SK Telecom T1 dominated the competition. They won the first three splits under the new LCK before ROX Tigers got the better of them in LCK Summer 2016. By 2020, SK Telecom T1 had won nine titles. Despite having a few challenges along the way, they remained the dominant force in the LCK.
They also rebranded to just T1 in 2020. They won their 10th championship in April 2022. The story of T1 has become synonymous with the LCK. T1 are one of the biggest esports teams on the planet. There aren’t too many other esports teams that can claim to have built a dynasty.

LCK Format
The LCK format is pretty simple to grasp. As mentioned earlier, the tri-tournament annual circuit had given way to a simple spring and summer split.
Both seasons have a regular season and playoffs – not unlike most American sports. Teams play against each other in home and away ties. After every team completes 18 games, the best six teams qualify for the playoffs.
To ensure the very best ends up winning the split, the playoff matches are best-of-five. The teams that finish with a top-2 ranking in the regular season get a bye to the semifinals.
The four other teams have to face each other before entering qualifying for the semifinals. This format holds the interest of the audience even during the league season.
There are other rewards on offer for winners of the splits. The spring season winner gets automatic entry into the mid-season invitational. They aren’t the only ones to get some rewards for their performances.
The winner of the summer season, the team that has registered the most championship points, and the finalists of the regional qualifiers will qualify for the Worlds.
Every league match holds a lot of importance. Even if a team doesn’t win a split, they have a chance to qualify for the World Championship and show their skills to the rest of the world.
LCK Prize Money
LCK Summer season offered a total prize pool of $276,794. The prize money is distributed among teams as follows:
- First place: $147,623.44
- Second place: $73,811.72
- Third place:$36,905.86
- Fourth place: $18,452.93
The LCK Spring and Summer season offers the same prize pool. The LCK has some of the strongest teams on the LoL competitive circuit. It’s why the prize money is quite high compared to some of the other regional LoL leagues.
LCK Teams and Players
Gen.G Esports were the winners in the 2022 Summer season. They were followed by T1, whose achievements have been covered in earlier sections. Sandbox Gaming came in third place, and DAMWON Gaming finished in fourth place.
KR Rolster followed them in fifth place, DRX in sixth, Freecs in seventh, Nongshim Redforce in eighth, Brion Esports in ninth, and Hanwha Life Esports in tenth.
To even make it to the LCK is quite an achievement. The LCK is arguably the strongest regional league in competitive LoL. The sides who play in the LCK are not just the best teams in the region but some of the best teams in the world.
