League of Legends Champions Series Betting Tips & LCS Live Streams
About League of Legends Champions Series (LCS)
Riot Games, the developers of League of Legends (LoL), among the world’s most popular video games, announced the formation of LCS in August 2012.
At the time of launch, they also committed to establishing a pathway structure to support the fully professional league, featuring eight teams across North America and Europe. As part of their vision to sustain the ambitious project, they also established a schedule, guaranteed retainer contracts for players and coaches, and developed the requisite infrastructure to support their endeavour.
Initially, soon after inception, the LCS was divided into two competitive regions: NA (North America) LCS for USA and Canada and EU (European Union) LCS. Both leagues had eight competing teams in a promotion/relegation system. A parallel Challenger League was established as a feeder system to house the relegated teams as well as the up-and-coming ones.
Until 2017, both these leagues operated under the LoL Championship Series brand. Since 2018, the LCS turned into a fully franchised league with 10 teams competing across two splits every year: spring and summer split. While North America region retained the LCS brand solely, Europe rebranded their league to LEC. Overall, a total of 33 teams have competed in the LCS since its inception.
At the end of every season, the top three - winner, runners-up and third place - qualify for the annual LoL World Championship, also known as Worlds, the game’s flagship event. Matches for both competitive splits are played by Riot Games’ studios in Los Angeles, California. In 2020, in trying to evolve and stay ahead of its competitors, league’s format changes into a double-elimination tournament.
Overall, apart from, of course, producing a compelling league that fosters exciting gameplay, the LCS has developed into one of the most diverse leagues, having rosters consisting of people from over 20 countries. In being true pathbreaker in LoL’s quest to redefine themselves, the LCS also became the first - and they remain the only league - to launch a Game Changers series, an exclusive women’s league, last year.
What began as a process to make LoL more inclusive has now gone mainstream. Young women players now have a pathway to a greater gaming future. Players are introduced to the fundamentals of becoming a professional, with opportunities to train and scrim against different teams, work with coaches and analysts to gain insight and perspective on how they could improve better.

The current playoff format was introduced in 2020 and is a double-elimination tournament, with the top six seeded into the winners bracket and two additional teams seemed into the losers bracket. The winners bracket is held as a regular knockout tournament, with the teams that lose moving into the losers bracket.

Picking a small group from a big list of accomplished stars is subjective and can be debated long and hard, but there are certain players who have had bigger impact than some others.
Jeong “Impact” Eon-young is among the greatest and most accomplished top laner to ever play in the LCS, while Yiliang “Peter” Peng can be held in the same regard when it comes to ADCs and Søren “Bjergsen” Bjerg for the mid lane. Then there’s Jo “CoreJJ” Yong, who has scored highly when it comes to player-impact. This has helped him deliver two LCS titles and two LCS MVPs.
Late last year, as part of their 10-year celebration, LCS made an honorary list of their top players in history, and at the top was Bjergsen, the mid laner from Team Liquid who was declared the best LCS player in their first 10 years. He made his LCS debut in 2014 with TSM and has played in every season of the league’s existence, batting one year in between in 2021 before stepping away altogether.
