LNG Esports vs T1 Predictions

LNG Esports and T1 will meet in the final round of quarterfinals at League of Legends  World Championship 2023. The teams are priced at close to even odds on most esports betting sites, suggesting it should be a close game.

Esports betting sites have LNG Esports and T1 priced at 1.90, suggesting we should be in for a close and exciting game. That makes a lot of sense, considering neither of the two teams looked much better than the other so far, but there can only be one winner.

  • LNG have so far beaten Fnatic, Cloud9, and KT Rolster
  • T1 have so far beaten Team Liquid, Cloud9, and Bilibili Gaming
  • T1 are the only remaining LCK team in the tournament

Head to Head

LNG Esports and T1 have yet to meet this season

LNG Esports Form

LNG Esports entered LoL World Championship 2023 as the third favourites to win the tournament, and they’re on a good path to do so. LNG Esports made the playoffs with a 3-1 record, with wins against Fnatic, Cloud9, and KT Rolster, while their only loss came against China’s number one seed, JD Gaming.

Even against JD Gaming, LNG Esports didn’t look that bad, proving to the world that they’re the real deal. Much of LNG’s success is thanks to the current state of the game granted it’s hard to ignore the individual talent on this roster.

Lee "Scout" Ye-chan and Lee "Tarzan" Seung-yong are arguably the best mid-jungle duo in the world, and they alone played a big role in LNG Esports’s success so far. And while don’t lack talent elsewhere, the Scout-Tarzan tandem will be the main thing T1 will have to watch out for on Sunday.

No changes for LNG Esports

  • Tang "Zika" Hua-Yu – top lane
  • Lee "Tarzan" Seung-yong - jungle
  • Scout" Ye-chan – mid lane
  • Chen "GALA" Wei – ADC
  • Fu "Hang" Ming-Hang – support

T1 Form

T1 have had a very up-and-down season, but they made it to LoL World Championship 2023 as Korea’s second seed. In their fashion, T1 had a slow start to the tournament and barely made it past Team Liquid in the first round of the Swiss Stage.

To that, T1 added a painful loss against Gen.G; however, they’ve since produced two explosive performances against Cloud9 and Bilibili Gaming, proving that they can perform at the top level. T1’s performance against BLG alone is a good enough reason to believe that they can take down LNG Esports, but there’s more.

T1 are one of the best early-game teams at LoL Worlds, whereas LNG Esports tend to struggle in pre-20 minutes. This can open up an opportunity for T1 to take over the games early and close out the series, but that is only if T1 can match LNG’s lanes.

T1 Squad & Team News

No changes for T1.

  • Choi "Zeus" Woo-je – top lane
  • Mun "Oner" Hyeon-jun – jungle
  • Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok – mid lane
  • Lee "Gumayusi" Min-hyeong – ADC
  • Ryu "Keria" Min-seok – support

Verdict

On paper, LNG Esports and T1 look fairly equal, but I would prefer to be on the side of LNG for this contest. LNG Esports have stronger laners, they are comfortable in the current meta, and are stabler than T1.

Even though T1 can exploit LNG’s early-game weaknesses, that really is the only win condition T1 has for this match. Not to mention that LNG Esports have side choice, which further tips the scales in their favour.
