Team BDS vs SK Gaming Predictions

Team BDS and SK Gaming will meet on Saturday, August 26, in the lower bracket of the League of Legends EMEA Championship (LEC) 2023 Season Finals. The two teams last met during the regular season when BDS won, and they're expected to win again.

Esports bookmakers have Team BDS priced as 1.72 favourites to defeat SK Gaming, who enter the match as 2.00 underdogs. The offered betting odds aren't too surprising since BDS played a good series against G2 Esports in the upper bracket, but this is still a match between two struggling teams.

  • Team BDS aren't as good as they were in LEC 2023 Spring
  • SK Gaming have had their moments this split
  • It could be a very close game.

Head to Head

SK Gaming and Team BDS last met during the LEC 2023 Summer regular season, when Team BDS won.

  • Team BDS 1-0 SK Gaming – June 24, 2023

Team BDS Form

Team BDS were amazing last split, when they defied all the odds and won the regular season and made it through the LEC 2023 Spring Groups with two 2-0 wins against SK and KOI. Even in the LEC 2023 Spring Playoffs, Team BDS looked solid and made it to the finals, where they lost against MAD Lions (2-3).

However, despite their strong showing in the spring, Team BDS failed to reach the same heights in the summer split. BDS struggled during the regular season and finished the split in fifth place with a 4-5 record. Things didn't improve in LEC 2023 Summer Groups, where BDS finished fifth and missed out on the playoffs.

However, despite their lacklustre showings for most of the split, BDS looked good in their 1-3 loss against G2 Esports in the first round of the LEC 2023 Season Finals. They were competitive and looked set to win at least two maps, but were ultimately outclassed by the current best LoL esports team in the region.

Team BDS Squad & Team News

Team BDS have not announced any roster changes.

  • Adam "Adam" Maanane – top lane
  • Théo "Sheo" Borile – jungle
  • Ilias "nuc" Bizriken – mid lane
  • Juš "Crownie" Marušič – ADC
  • Labros "Labrov" Papoutsakis - support

SK Gaming Form

SK Gaming haven't found nearly as much success as Team BDS this season, and they also finished the LEC 2023 Summer regular season with a 4-5 record. They did better in the LEC 2023 Summer Groups, where SK Gaming defeated Fnatic (2-0) and took Excel Esports to three maps, but just like BDS, they didn't reach the playoffs after losing the reverse fixture with Fnatic (0-2).

The upcoming fixture will mark SK Gaming's first match of LEC 2023 Season Final because they've been seeded into the loser's bracket due to accumulating only 150 points throughout the season. But this has its advantages, as SK Gaming had more than enough time to prepare themselves for this clash.

Comparing the teams lane by lane, SK Gaming seem like they're at a disadvantage, but this mainly concerns the bottom lane. If Team BDS don't contain jungler Mark "Markoon" van Woensel, they will struggle to come out ahead, and a lot will come down to Joel "Irrelevant" Miro Scharoll and how well he can contain Adam "Adam" Maanane.

SK Gaming must also forge a plan to prevent Team BDS form playing their scaling composition, which has proven very effective for them.

SK Gaming Squad & Team News

No changes for SK Gaming.

  • Joel "Irrelevant" Miro Scharoll – top lane
  • Mark "Markoon" van Woensel – jungle
  • Daniel "Sertuss" Gamani – mid lane
  • Thomas "Exakick" Foucou – ADC
  • Mads "Doss" Schwartz – support

Team BDS look stronger on paper, but that is mainly because they did relatively well against G2 Esports. At the same time, G2 Esports gave SK Gaming a clear plan on how to defeat Team BDS, force early compositions, and shut down Team BDS before their team can scale.

It won't come easy, and SK Gaming definitely have a lot of things to work on to deny Team BDS from playing how they like to play. But if SK relieve Markoon from tank duties and stabilise the top lane, they will have a realistic chance to win.
