Head to Head
Team Liquid and Immortals have yet to meet this split.
Team Liquid Form
After a long break, Team Liquid secured their fourth victory of the split last round when they made it past Dignitas on map three. It wasn't a very dominant display, and you could argue that Liquid won only thanks to Dignitas' mistakes.
That doesn't take away from the fact that Team Liquid are one of the top LoL esports teams in this league; however, it doesn't prove that they're very good. They should've gotten better during the break, but we only got to see them play one series, which isn't enough to make any conclusions.
On the other hand, Liquid are good in the early game and they've produced two solid international performances this split – so there are reasons to feel optimistic about them.
Team Liquid Squad & Team News
No roster changes for Team Liquid.
- Jeong "Impact" Eon-young – top lane
- Um "UmTi" Sung-hyeon – jungle
- Eain "APA" Stearns – mid lane
- Sean "Yeon" Sung – ADC
- Jo "CoreJJ" Yong-in – support
Immortals Form
Immortals lost their third match of the split against FlyQuest last round, which wasn't too surprising. They've not looked very good throughout this season, so expecting them to do well against one of the top teams in the LCS might sound a bit too optimistic.
But the betting odds on this series are quite high and perhaps a bit too high. So, while we know Immortals are unquestionably worse, the question is how much worse they really are.
It's important to note that immortals played well against FlyQuest, at least in the early game, when they managed to keep the maps close. Unfortunately, things spiralled out of control in the mid-late game when FlyQuest took over the game.
Immortals Squad & Team News
No roster changes for Immortals.
- Cho "Castle" Hyeon-seong – top lane
- Jonathan "Armao" Armao – jungle
- Lee "Mask" Sang-hun – mid lane
- Edward "Tactical" Ra – ADC
- Kim "Olleh" Joo-sung – support
Verdict
Immortals have not looked good this split, but they showed some good things against FlyQuest, displaying a stable early game. Their mid-game is still very shaky, so it's unlikely they'll manage to do much damage against Team Liquid on Sunday, making it hard to believe they can actually win.
The total kills line for this match is at 25.5, which is pretty high, knowing that the meta shifted to longer games and that Liquid are a very bloody team with 28.3 average total kills per game. And assuming Immortals can keep Liquid at bay in the early game, covering 25 total kills should be more than manageable.
