EDward Gaming weren't expected to make it very far in this tournament, but they went against all the odds and are now set to face off against Leviatan for a ticket in the grand finals, and deservingly so.

The Chinese Valorant esports team had a solid showing in the group stage, where they defeated FUT Esports (2-0) and Paper Rex (2-0), adding a 2-0 sweep of Trace Esports and a reverse-sweep of Sentinels in the playoffs.

Beating Sentinels in their current form alone is a good enough indication that EDward Gaming mean business and the reverse sweep is good proof that EDward Gaming can be highly resilient – which could land them success on Friday.

Leviatan were billed as one of the main favourites to win VALORANT Champions 2024, and rightly so. Despite not winning anything significant throughout the 2024 Valorant esports season, Leviatan shifted into a higher gear in Stage 2, cementing themselves as the best team from VCT Americas.

Their run so far in the season-culminating event was a bit up and down, however. They had a shaky start in the group stage with a loss against Trace Esports, but they pushed through by beating Talon Esports (2-0) and Team Vitality.

Yet their best results came in the knockout stage, where Leviatan defeated G2 Esports (0-2) and Team Heretics (2-0), claiming the tag as the team to beat.
