In the group, Gen.G defeated Paper Rex (2-1), DetonatioN FocusMe (2-0), and Global Esports (2-0), but lost to BOOM Esports (0-2) and DRX (1-2). Although not a terrible record, Gen.G did lose to two of the group's strongest teams.

Regardless of their shaky start to the stage, Gen.G turned around and defeated TALON (2-1) and BOOM Esports (2-0) in the playoffs, indicating some improvement en route to the Stage 1 title.

In the groups, RRQ lost to Nongshim RedForce (1-2) and Team Secret (1-2) and defeated TALON (2-0), ZETA DIVISION (2-0), and T1 (2-1). Since then, Rex Regum Qeon have played just DRX, who they bested 2-1 in the upper bracket semifinal.

Gen.G Esports v Rex Regum Qeon

Gen.G Esports are billed as favourites to defeat Rex Regum Qeon, which, considering their recent victories against TALON and BOOM Esports, would make sense. However, that resurgence does not take away from RRQ's strong showings.

Rex Regum Qeon played well during the group stage, and they defeated DRX in the previous round of the playoffs, which is a very good indication that they're more than capable of standing up against Gen.G.

As much as this is still Gen.G's game to lose, I like my chances with RRQ to win one map and force a close series.
