Both teams have made it through the Swiss Stage, and they both won their first games of the playoffs. Gen.G edged past Fnatic, whereas Wolves Esports swept VCT Pacific no.1 seed, Rex Regum Qeon.

Wolves Esports have far exceeded expectations this tournament, and while some may see their run as a fluke, the eye test proves Wolves Esports are playing extremely well.

Whether that will be enough to make it past Gen.G is anyone's guess, but given their form, it would not be the most shocking thing to see Wolves take one map.

  • Wolves Esports are playing much better than expected
  • Gen.G Esports look like one of the tournament favourites
  • Gen.G should win, but Wolves can keep it close

Gen.G Esports Form

Gen.G Esports kicked off their VALORANT Masters Toronto 2025 campaign in the Swiss Stage, which they completed with a perfect record, beating MIBR (2-0) and Paper Rex (2-0) without any major issues.

They continued with their strong form in the playoffs, where Gen.G bested VCT EMEA titans Fnatic in a closely-contested three-map series. Gen.G came close to losing, but they edged out the win with 13-11 on Haven, 12-14 on Split, and 13-6 on Sunset.

T3xture was again Gen.G's top player, ending the series with the server's highest 1.23 rating, ahead of Ash at 1.00.

Even though Gen.G had to dig deep to defeat Fnatic, they have done it and made a very strong case for themselves as one of the main title candidates.

Wolves Esports Form

Wolves Esports were among the biggest outsiders on the VALORANT Masters Toronto 2025 outright markets before the tournament kicked off. However, despite carrying the tag of underdogs, the Chinese squad have far exceeded expectations in this event and made it to the upper bracket semifinals.

The road to this point was not easy, but Wolves have managed to defeat Team Heretics (2-0), Bilibili Gaming (2-0), and VCT Pacific Stage 1 champions, Rex Regum Qeon (2-0), in the first round of the playoffs.

It was a superb display from Wolves, who won Ascent with 13-11 and closed out the series with 13-8 on Icebox. All that, largely thanks to Juicy, who ended the game with a 1.24 rating and Spring, who posted 1.10.

Verdict

Qualitatively, Gen.G Esports are stronger than Wolves Esports, which explains the latest betting odds, pricing the VCT Pacific squad as firm favourites.

However, while Gen.G have shown more this season and field better individual talent, Wolves Esports are in exceptional form and have shown that they can dance with the world's elite teams.

While it is hard to believe Wolves Esports can upset the surging Gen.G, they have shown enough to believe they can keep it close. Wolves might not have the star-studded roster of Gen.G, but they play well as a unit and have momentum on their side.
