Gen.G enter VALORANT Champions 2024 as by far the most successful Valorant esports team of the year. They won VCT 2024: Pacific Kickoff and Stage 2, as well as VCT 2024: Masters Shanghai at the start of June.

On top of the three trophies, Gen.G also placed second in Masters Madrid and Pacific Stage 1, so they've essentially not placed worse than second across five Valorant esports tournaments, which is nothing to sneeze at. However, they've looked a bit worse of late.

In Stage 2, Gen.G showed some cracks and they started swapping out their map pool, which has affected their overall showings. It's unclear whether that's an indication of struggles or maybe Gen.G are just trying out new things – but one thing is for certain; Gen.G haven't looked as sharp lately.

Sentinels enter VALORANT Champions 2024 as the fourth-highest-rated team from VCT Americas; however, they've not won VCT 2024: Americas Stage 1 or Stage 2.

Sentinels had a strong start to the 2024 Valorant season – they won Americas Kickoff and Masters Madrid, but have since not come close to hoisting another trophy. That sounds terrible, but Sentinels did not perform poorly across the two stages.

They came very close to qualifying for Stage 1 playoffs and suffered an unfortunate loss in the first round of Stage 2 playoffs. It's also important to note that Sentinels had some internal issues across the season, which affected their overall performances.

Gen.G v Sentinels

Sentinels are a much stronger team than what their results from the second half of the season suggest. However, while they have the potential to be great, Sentinels first have to show something before we can start believing in them.

Gen.G, on the other side, have looked a bit worse of late, yet that shouldn't be a reason for concern. They also had their shaky runs earlier this season but always managed to pick themselves up, and this likely won't change in VALORANT Champions 2024.

This is Gen. G's game to lose, but we wouldn't expect them to roll over Sentinels. Expect a closer series.
