JD Gaming had a very rough start to the 2024 Valorant esports season. They went 1-2 in VCT 2024: China Kickoff and managed just one win (1-4) in Stage 1. However, JD Gaming showed a different side once the second stage started.

With wins against Titan Esports Club (2-0), Trace Esports (2-1), TYLOO (2-0), and All Gamers (2-0), JD Gaming secured a spot in the playoffs by the skin of their teeth, one victory clear of the cutoff line.

The sudden resurgence came likely due to the coaching changes which JD Gaming made in June, along with the signing of Liu "Z1Yan" Zihan, who has since proven himself as a key player of the team. However, while JD Gaming showed improvement, their true test is set for Tuesday when they face off against BIlibili Gaming.
