KRU Esports vs Sentinels Predictions

KRU Esports and Sentinels will clash on Sunday, May 13, in Week 7 of the Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) 2023 Americas League. Sentinels need this win to stay in the race for a top-six finish, whereas KRU Esports are already guaranteed to end the season in the bottom half of the table.

Esports bookmakers have Sentinels priced as favourites (1.40) to defeat KRU Esports (2.75), who have yet to win a game this season. Given KRU Esports' lack of success, it sounds fair that they're considered underdogs; however, it's not like Sentinels have shown a lot lately.

  • Sentinels are on a two-game losing streak
  • The constant roster changes haven't helped Sentinels improve
  • KRU Esports looked better in Week 5

Head to Head

KRU Esports and Sentinels have not met once this season.

KRU Esports Form

KRU Esports are in a terrible spot ahead of Week 7 matches. They've yet to win a game this season and have managed a disappointing 4-17 map record, which effectively makes them (by far) the worst-performing team in VCT 2023 Americas League.

They have had their moments, most notably in Week 4 when they took a map from 100 Thieves, and Week 5 when they forced LOUD to three maps (1-2). However, KRU Esports returned to their old ways in Week 6, when they got stomped by Leviatan (4-13, 4-13).

Evidently, KRU Esports aren't good enough to compete at this level, but this could be their best chance to win a game this season.

KRU Esports Squad & Team News

KRU Esports have not announced any lineup changes but will likely utilise its entire six-man roster.

  • Nicolas "Klaus" Ferrari
  • Juan Pablo "NagZ" Lopez Miranda
  • Santiago "Daveeys" Ruiz
  • Marco "Melser" Amaro
  • Angelo "keznit" Mori
  • Carlos "axeddy" Galvão

Sentinels Form

Sentinels are 2-5 on the season, which keeps them in the race for a top six finish, but only barely. And it doesn't help that Sentinels lost their last two outings against Cloud9 (0-2) and Evil Geniuses (0-2).

The defeat against Evil Geniuses is particularly concerning since EG aren't exactly a top-tier team. But still, they humiliated Sentinels with 13-6 on Fracture and 13-5 on Pearl. The tough loss led to more roster changes for Sentinels, who re-added Tyson "TenZ" Ngo to the lineup or Week 7 in hopes of finding some traction, but at this point, it just seems like Sentinels are throwing things at a wall hoping something will stick.

Over the entire season, Sentinels haven't really shown much. They started the year with a 1-4 record and then found some success in Week 4 against MiBR (2-0), but even that is hardly something to write home about.

Oddly enough, Sentinels have a solid roster, which should be competitive. However, for whatever reason, things just don't click for them.

Sentinels Squad & Team News

Sentinels have recently announced the return of Tyson "TenZ" Ngo, who was re-added to the active lineup three days before the departure of Rory "dephh" Jackson, who was cut from the roster on May 12.

  • Tyson "TenZ" Ngo
  • Zachary "zekken" Patrone
  • Bryan "pANcada" Luna
  • Gustavo "Sacy" Rossi
  • Jimmy "Marved" Nguyen

Verdict

On paper, this is Sentinels' game to lose. They have better individual talent than KRU Esports, and unlike their next opponents, Sentinels have at least won two games this season. But if we ignore the team’s record and focus solely on what they’ve shown in their last few outings, there isn’t much to separate the two teams.

The talent gap is still there, and it’s tough to ignore the return of TenZ, which should give Sentinels that extra boost to defeat KRU, but I don’t expect this to be a one-sided affair. Take over 2.5 maps.
