KRU Esports, like Sentinels, managed to pick up a win in the first week against LOUD, who they reverse-swept with solid performances on Haven and Split. Beating LOUD is not as impressive as beating 100 Thieves, but KRU showed some good things.

They did not look great on Fracture but performed well on Haven and Split, which should put KRU in a solid position as they look to navigate through the map veto. While Sentinels remain a more potent team with better individual talent, KRU's versatility could help them force a close game.

Sentinels started the stage with a 2-1 victory against 100 Thieves, who they bested with two very strong maps – 13-5 on Pearl and 13-1 on Split. 100 Thieves picked up Haven with 13-9.

By beating 100 Thieves, Sentinels left a strong message that they are ready to contest the top places again, and unsurprisingly, they are billed as favourites for the next match.

This is not too shocking, especially if we assume bang, Zellsis, and johnqt will perform as well as they did in Week 1, averaging 1.32, 1.23, and 1.14 performance ratings, respectively. However, 100T also showed us that Sentinels have a weak map, so they might not be as untouchable as they may appear.

KRU Esports Form

KRU Esports started VCT 2025: Americas Kickoff with a 2-1 reverse-sweep victory against LOUD Esports, who they beat with 13-2 on Haven and 13-10 on Split after dropping Fracture (3-13).

Kenzit, in particular, had a great performance on the day, ending the series with a 1.24 performance rating, which includes a 1.87 rating on Haven and 1.26 on Split. His teammates, Melser and shyy, also had a solid day, averaging 1.15 and 1.08 ratings, respectively.

KRU proved just how deadly they can be on Haven, which should force Sentinel to ban the map so as to not suffer the same fate as LOUD. But that will leave KRU in a good position in the map veto.

Verdict

Sentinels v KRU Esports

This should be an entertaining match between two teams who are hungry for a win. Both sides had a solid start to the stage, and the top players on both rosters seem to be in great shape.

With little to separate them quality-wise, this series will likely be decided based on the maps chosen. KRU will want to ban Fracture, while Sentinels will take off Haven. Fracture could slip through the map veto as Sentinels are not that effective on it either, making it a 50/50 map at best.

And assuming Split will get picked – which, given the teams' record on the map, will likely be the case – we have two 50/50 maps, turning this match closer to a coin-flip than anything else.

Expect a close game.
