Team Heretics have done incredibly well this season. They had a strong start to the year, with a runner-up finish in VCT 2024: EMEA Kickoff, then placed top-eight in Madrid and second in EMEA Stage 1 and Masters Shanghai.

Heretics finished the season with a third-place finish in VCT 2024: EMEA Stage 2, which was a bit below expectations but not a terrible outcome. Heretics posted solid results in Stage 2, with just two losses against the surging Vitality.

The European Valorant esports team kept their momentum going in VALORANT Champions 2024 by winning Group B with wins against FunPlus Phoenix (2-1) and Gen.G (2-1), which is a very good indication of how high Heretics can fly. But can they overcome their regional rivals?

Fnatic Form

Fnatic were by far the most dominant Valorant team of 2023, but they cooled down in 2024 with a slow start to the season. Midway through, Fnatic found more momentum, won VCT 2024: EMEA Stage 1 and placed top eight at Masters Shanghai before collecting another domestic title in Stage 2.

After a strong showing in Stage 2, where Fnatic won all eight of their series, the European champions made it through VALORANT Champions 2024 Group A with wins against Bilibili Gaming (2-0) and KRU Esports (2-1), but they also slipped against DRX (0-2).

Despite qualifying for the playoffs, Fnatic didn't look great during the group stage, as they defeated only two of the weakest teams attending the tournament. Still, while their form is far from great, Fnatic are a Valorant team that should never be underestimated.

Team Heretics v Fnatic

Team Heretics lost their last match with Fnatic, but they've displayed much better performances across the VALORANT Champions 2024 group stage. This explains why they're priced as favourites, even though it's not fair to say they're qualitatively much better than Fnatic.

Form plays a role in picking out a winner, but so does the recent head-to-head record, where Fnatic came out ahead. This, given their shaky showings during the group stage, still doesn't make Fnatic a very inviting pick at 2.00, but at the very least, this should be a very competitive series.
