Several overseas players will miss the IPL playoffs due to international commitments that are scheduled during the end of the tournament. Some of those players include Jos Buttler, Jacob Bethell, Will Jacks.

SA Players Will Also Miss IPL playoffs

Several players from South Africa, including Kagiso Rabada (GT), Lungi Ngidi (RCB), Tristan Stubbs (DC), Aiden Markram (LSG), Ryan Rickelton, Corbin Bosch (both MI), Marco Jansen (PBKS) and Wiaan Mulder (SRH), will leave India before the end of the league phase, on May 25.

South Africa have an important final against Australia in the World Test Championship, which means their preparation time will be impacted if they stay on longer for the IPL.

"It is an individual decision, obviously, to return or to play or continue," Nkwe said. "But one thing we've made it clear, and we are finalising that with IPL and BCCI, is sticking to our original plan when it comes to the WTC preparations, obviously with May 26 being the latest for the Test guys to come back,” director of cricket Enoch Nkwe said.

South Africa are scheduled to play Zimbabwe in a warm-up match on June 3, which is incidentally the rescheduled date for the final of the IPL.

England vs West Indies Series Also Scheduled

An ODI series between England and West Indies will mean multiple white-ball players will leave India ahead of the IPL playoffs.

Jofra Archer and Jamie Overton will also leave India, but their teams have already been knocked out of the competition.

"No Objection Certificates have been granted based on the original IPL dates, so we'll need to review any potential extensions, particularly in relation to any clash with the final white-ball squad," an ECB spokesperson said.

"We're keen to support the IPL and the BCCI in getting the schedule up and running, and to facilitate players' return should they choose to go back. We'll continue to work closely with the BCCI and the IPL as the situation develops."
