Lucknow Super Giants fast bowler Mayank Yadav has been ruled out of the first half of the season with a back injury (lumbar stress injury).
Mayank Yadav was retained by his franchise for a price of INR 11 crore before the auction. He was one of the fastest bowlers in the last season, providing LSG with another dimension to their game on pitches that can be slow and placid in Lucknow.
While he has resumed bowling with rehab in Bengaluru, he is well behind schedule as he tries to be fit for the second half of the season.
"As much as we are keen on having him [play IPL 2025], we want him 150% fit not just 100% fit so we'll do everything possible to get him there," LSG team director Zaheer Khan had said about Mayank Yadav.
Harry Brook Pulls Out Of IPL
For the second successive year, England batter Harry Brook pulled out of the IPL for Delhi Capitals. He could, as a consequence, face a two-year suspension from the IPL. He was bought by Capitals for INR 6.25 crores in the mega auction.
Brook has been considered as one of the strongest candidates to replace Jos Buttler as England’s white-ball captain following the team’s disastrous performance in the Champions Trophy.
"I have made the very difficult decision to pull out of the upcoming IPL," Brook tweeted. "I apologise unreservedly to the Delhi Capitals and their supporters. I love cricket. Ever since I was a young boy, I have dreamt of playing for my country, and I am extremely thankful to have the opportunity to play the game I love at this level.”
Sunrisers Sign Mulder
England fast bowler Brydon Carse was ruled out of the IPL with an injury to his left toe. He played one Champions Trophy match, against Australia, in Lahore before he was replaced by Jamie Overton for the rest of the campaign.
Sunrisers signed South African allrounder Wiaan Mulder as his replacement. He took six wickets in South Africa’s campaign in the Champions Trophy, ending as the team’s joint-highest wicket-taker. Mulder has not played in the IPL previously.
