Adelaide United vs Perth Glory Predictions

Perth Glory have been on fire in front of goal this season. This fixture’s recent history suggests there will be goals, while Perth’s recent record against the Reds is also worth noting.

I’m tipping BTTS and over 3.5 goals, with a draw having value.

  • Adelaide United have seen BTTS in 7 of their last 10 matches (A-League).
  • Adelaide United have seen over 3.5 goals in 3 of their last 4 matches against Perth Glory (A-League).
  • Perth Glory have seen BTTS in 5 of their last 6 matches (A-League).
  • Perth Glory have seen over 3.5 goals in 4 of their last 6 matches (A-League).
  • Perth Glory are unbeaten in 6 of their last 7 against Adelaide United (A-League).

Head to Head

Adelaide United have a narrow 20-19 record in the head-to-head with 11 draws in 50 meetings.

Their last two meetings both ended in 5-3 thrillers – with Adelaide and Perth recording a win each. Glory striker Nick D’Agostino starred with a brace in their most previous encounter late last season which ended in Perth’s favour.

Adelaide United Form

Adelaide bounced with a 1-0 win against Melbourne Victory after their 5-3 defeat to Perth Glory away from home.

16-year-old Mohammed Toure broke the deadlock in the 53rd minute with a superb individual goal to guide the Reds to their second win of the season.

Though celebrations were short lived as injuries to several first team players saw a weakened Adelaide defeated 3-1 by Brisbane Roar away from home the following week.

Adelaide United Injuries & Team News

Striker Tomi Juric and midfielder Javi Lopez missed the last match with respective groin and calf injuries but should be set for a return this week.

Defender Ryan Strain is not so lucky with the 23-year-old expected to miss up to six weeks with a groin problem.

Striker Al-Hassan Toure made his long-awaited return to the field last week after recovering from a broken foot. He came off the bench in Adelaide’s loss and will be in contention to start this week.

Perth Glory Form

The Glory have been this season’s entertainers, having been involved in several high-scoring affairs.

Perth were forced to stay and play all three Melbourne sides due to strict border laws between Western Australia and other states. The Glory played four matches in 12 days where they recorded two wins and two losses.

After consecutive defeats to Western United (5-4) and Melbourne Victory (2-1), the Glory bounced back and defeated Melbourne City 3-1 in their last match.

Perth’s opening two goals came via the unlikely sources of midfielder Daniel Stynes and defender Dane Ingham, before D’Agostino sealed the win late in the match.

Perth Glory Injuries & Team News

Winger Diego Castro returned to the field after a ten-month absence and minor leg injury in the win against Melbourne.

The Glory have been adamant they will not rush the Spaniard into action, meaning he could be rested for this match.

Attacker Chris Ikonomidis is still recovering from a ruptured ACL, while defender Osama Malik is also out after recently undergoing shoulder surgery.

Goals seem to follow Perth everywhere they go. These two sides played out two eight goal thrillers last season when they met, while the Glory also have a good record against Adelaide.

I’m backing BTTS with over 3.5 goals, while a draw also has value.
