Brisbane Roar vs Adelaide United Predictions

Brisbane Roar have turned Dolphin Stadium into a fortress and host a high scoring yet defensively inconsistent Adelaide in the first week of finals. I’m tipping Brisbane to qualify and over 2.5 goals.

  • Brisbane Roar are unbeaten in 6 of their last 7 home matches (A-League).
  • Brisbane Roar have seen over 2.5 goals in 3 of their last 5 matches (A-League).
  • Brisbane Roar have won 3 of their last 5 matches (A-League).
  • Adelaide have seen over 2.5 goals in 3 of their last 4 matches (A-League).

Head to Head

Adelaide have a 23-19 record over Brisbane with nine draws in 51 encounters.

The Reds picked up a narrow 1-0 win at home in their last meeting with winger Craig Goodwin scoring the game’s only goal in the 23rd minute.

Brisbane Roar Form

Brisbane did enough to earn a home final after finishing the regular season in fourth.

A frustrating performance saw the Roar go down 2-0 to Western Sydney away from home. Despite taking 20 shots on goal and having seven on target, Brisbane were unable to find a break through.

The Roar rectified this defeat with a 2-1 win over Perth. The Glory gave the Roar a helping hand with defender Jonathan Aspropotamitis scoring an own goal.

Japanese defender Riku Danzaki then gave his side some breathing room with a 73rd minute goal.

Brisbane suffered a 2-0 loss to reigning champions Sydney in the last round of the season. Despite having 31 attempts to 12, the Roar only had themselves to blame as they wasted several opportunities.

Brisbane Roar Injuries & Team News

Brisbane will be without defenders Tom Aldred and Jack Hingert with both players sidelined with hamstring injuries.

Adelaide United Form

Adelaide United finished fifth at the end of Carl Veart’s first season in charge.

Winger Craig Goodwin’s 39th minute goal was enough for the Reds in a tense affair against rivals Melbourne Victory away from home.

Adelaide then suffered a big 4-1 defeat at home against Sydney. The Reds were dominated by the Sky Blues, with Sydney scoring three goals in 17 minutes.

The Reds bounced back in a thrilling 2-2 draw with Western Sydney. Adelaide opened the scoring through defender Ryan Strain.

Goodwin’s second half goal brought the Reds level again after the Wanderers took the lead, with the result sealing Adelaide’s spot inside the top six.

Adelaide United Injuries & Team News

Strikers Mohamed Toure and Kusini Yengi are doubtful to play after missing several weeks with hamstring injuries.
