Head to Head

Brisbane have an 18-16 advantage in the head-to-head with 16 draws in 50 encounters.

Their last meeting ended in a 1-1 draw in Brisbane. Striker Dylan Wenzel-Halls opened the scoring for the Roar, before Sydney’s Bobo equalised inside the last 20 minutes.

Brisbane Roar Form

Brisbane have jumped to third and will remain there should this result go their way.

The Roar consolidated their place inside the top six with a comprehensive 3-0 win over league leaders Melbourne City. Midfielder James O’Shea slotted two penalties while fellow midfielder Alex Parson also netted a rare goal.

A unsuccessful trip to Western Sydney followed, where the Roar were defeated 2-0. Despite having more attempts on target, Brisbane failed to make theirs count in what was otherwise a very even match.

Brisbane got back to winning ways with a 2-1 win at home against Perth. The Roar were given a helping hand when Perth defender Jonathan Aspropotamitis netted an own goal.

Japanese recruit Riku Danzaki then doubled Brisbane’s lead, with the win seeing them jump to third.

Brisbane Roar Injuries & Team News

Defender Tom Aldred is out with a hamstring injury, while forward Gol Gol Mebrahtu will miss with groin soreness.

Sydney FC Form

Sydney have locked in second place after enjoying a five match unbeaten run.

The Sky Blues picked up their third win over Melbourne Victory this season with a 2-0 triumph at home. Brazilian forward Bobo opened the scoring early before ex-Victory winger Kosta Barbarouses sealed the win in the 83rd minute.

A win in the Sydney derby followed, with this being the Sky Blues’ first win over Western Sydney in seven matches. Bobo rectified his penalty miss from the last time the two sides met to score the game’s only goal and guide Sydney to a 1-0 win.

Sydney then flexed their muscle against Adelaide, recording a 4-1 win away from home. English forward Adam Le Fondre starred with a brace, with Sydney taking full advantage of Adelaide going down to ten men.

Sydney FC Injuries & Team News

German midfielder Alex Baumjohann is out with a hamstring injury, while forward Trent Buhagiar will miss with a groin problem.

Having already wrapped up second place, head coach Steve Corica could rest several players ahead of the finals.
