Brisbane Roar vs Western United Predictions

Brisbane have dipped in form after a hot start to the season, while Western are yet to win interstate. Both sides have also struggled in front of goal in recent weeks.

I’m tipping BTTS No and under 2.5 goals, with value on a draw.

  • Brisbane Roar have seen under 2.5 goals in 6 of their last 7 matches (A-League).
  • Brisbane Roar have drawn 4 of their last 6 matches (A-League).
  • Brisbane Roar have seen under 2.5 goals in their last 4 matches against Western United (A-League).
  • Western United have seen under 2.5 goals in 3 of their last 4 matches (A-League).
  • Western United have seen BTTS No in 3 of their last 4 matches (A-League).
  • Western United have seen BTTS No in their last 4 matches against Brisbane (A-League).

Head to Head

Western United have a 3-1 advantage in the head-to-head with no draws in the four meetings.

The green-and-black ran away 1-0 victors over the Roar in their last encounter. Fullback Dylan Pierias headed home the winner in the 72nd minute, with Western’s goalkeeper Ryan Scott earning man-of-the-match honours.

Brisbane Roar Form

After such a promising start to the season Brisbane have fallen off the pace.

The Roar held reigning champions Sydney FC to a 1-1 draw after Dylan Wenzel-Halls’ goal was cancelled out by Sydney striker Bobo in the second half.

Brisbane then suffered a 1-0 loss away to Western United, with the Roar held goalless for the fourth time in five matches.

Another 1-1 draw with Wellington saw the Roar extend their winless run to seven matches. Striker Golgol Mebrahtu rescued a point in the 86th minute after the Phoenix had led since just before the break.

Brisbane Roar Injuries & Team News

Ex-Celtic striker Scott McDonald is still out with a hamstring injury. The Roar have felt his absence this season, with the side severely lacking in the final third.

Western United Form

Western United continue to remain a mystery in 2021.

A 2-0 loss away to Sydney was followed by their 1-0 win at home against Brisbane which snapped back-to-back losses.

Mark Rudan’s side have struggled away from home this season, with Western yet to record a win outside Victoria.

This poor interstate run continued in their most recent match against Macarthur. Despite opening the scoring through Pierias, Western surrendered this lead and ended up losing the match 2-1.

Western United Injuries & Team News

First choice goalkeeper Fillip Kurto is in contention to return after recovering from a concussion.

Right-back Josh Risdon is still sidelined with a cracked tibia, while midfielder Seb Pasquali is out with a hip injury.
