Macarthur vs Western United Predictions

Goals have been hard to come by for Macarthur and Western United. Western United have struggled to recapture their high-scoring style, while Macarthur have dipped in form after a strong start to the season.

I’m tipping BTTS No and under 2.5 goals.

  • Macarthur have seen BTTS No in 5 of their last 6 matches (A-League).
  • Macarthur have seen under 2.5 goals in 2 of their last 3 matches (A-League).
  • Western United have seen BTTS No in their last 3 matches (A-League).
  • Western United have seen under 2.5 goals in their last 3 matches (A-League).

Head to Head

These two sides have only ever met once before.

Western United picked up a 4-1 win that day with Spanish import Iker Guarrotxena scoring a debut goal while striker Besart Berisha netted a brace.

Macarthur Form

After sitting as high as second on the table, Macarthur have endured a frustrating few weeks in the A-League.

The Bulls pulled off an impressive 1-0 away to Sydney FC with striker Matt Derbyshire scoring the winner.

Though Macarthur failed to back this up as they suffered a 2-0 loss to Central Coast, before going down 3-0 to Melbourne City.

A 15 minute lapse for the Bulls saw them make several defence mistakes to which City capitalise on and put the game to bed by half time.

Macarthur Injuries & Team News

Forward Milislav Popovic remains Macarthur’s only injury. The 24-year-old is expected to be out for some time with a hamstring injury.

Western United Form

Western United returned to the winners list after consecutive losses in the league.
A 1-0 loss in Ballarat against Western Sydney was followed by a 2-0 defeat away to Sydney.

Captain Alessandro Diamanti returned for Western’s next match after he was rested and contributed to the side’s 1-0 win. The ex-West Ham midfielder put the assist in for winger Dylan Pierias who headed home the game’s only goal.

Western United Injuries & Team News

Aside from fullback Josh Risdon, who is yet to feature with a broken tibia, Western United have a fully fit squad available.

Goalkeeper Fillip Kurto is available after recovering from concussion. A return to the starting line-up is no certainty after reserve goalkeeper Ryan Scott kept a clean sheet in the last match.
