New Melbourne Victory coach Grant Brebner will not get a better chance of a first win in charge when his side take on bottom of the table Central Coast Mariners on Monday. It is a battle of the bottom two with Victory looking to end a run of four straight A-League defeats.

Melbourne Victory Form

Victory are on a four-game losing run - two before the A-League season was suspended and two since the restart. That run leaves new boss Grant Brebner still seeking his first win charge, but will it be third time lucky?

For Brebner, it has been successive 2-1 defeats. The first came against Western United and the second to Brisbane Roar on Thursday night, when Andrew Nabbout's penalty was a mere consolation.

Central Coast Mariners Form

Mariners remain rooted to the bottom of the A-League ladder, but they can move to within two points of Melbourne Victory with a win at Jubilee Oval.

The season restarted with an 11th straight defeat for Mariners as they lost 1-0 to Perth Glory. They ended that run with back-to-back draws against Newcastle Jets (0-0) and Western Sydney Wanderers (1-1) but are still without a win since January.

Melbourne Victory vs Central Coast Mariners Head to Head

Central Coast's last win - and one of only three this season - came when they defeated Melbourne Victory 3-2 in January.

In what was the only meeting between the sides this season, two Matt Simon penalties four minutes and 10 minutes into injury time sealed a dramatic win for the Mariners.

You have to go back to 2013 to find the Mariners' last victory over Melbourne before this season. Victory had enjoyed an 18-game unbeaten run against the Mariners, 15 of which were wins.

Melbourne Victory vs Central Coast Mariners Odds

Melbourne Victory are 1.75 favourites to snap their four-game losing run. Central Coast are 4.33 to repeat their win from earlier in the season, with a draw available at 3.80.
