Perth Glory vs Melbourne City Predictions

Perth Glory have severely dipped in form recently. They host the high-scoring Melbourne City with the in-form Jamie Maclaren leading the line.

I’m backing over 2.5 goals and a City win with Maclaren to score.

  • Perth Glory have lost 3 of their last 5 matches (A-League).
  • Perth Glory have seen over 2.5 goals in 3 of their last 4 matches against Melbourne City (A-League).
  • Melbourne City have won 9 of their last 12 matches (A-League).
  • Melbourne City’s Jamie Maclaren has scored 20 goals in 18 matches (A-League).
  • Melbourne City have seen over 2.5 goals in 5 of their last 7 matches (A-League).

Head to Head

Perth have a 17-8 record against Melbourne City with 10 draws in 35 encounters.

The Glory recorded a 3-1 win in Melbourne last time these two sides met. Midfielder Daniel Stynes opened the scoring before forwards Dane Ingham and Nick D’Agostino added second half goals.

Perth Glory Form

Despite playing consecutive home matches, Perth Glory’s recent form has not improved.

The Glory were held by Newcastle to a 1-1 draw away from home. Midfielder Joel Chianese drew first blood before the Jets swiftly responded minutes later.

A 3-1 loss at home to Wellington followed before they were forced to share the points with Macarthur in a goalless draw in Perth.

Perth Glory Injuries & Team News

Striker Nick D’Agostino will remains with a hamstring issue while defender Daniel Stynes will also miss with a groin problem.

Defender Riley Warland will also sit out with a quadricep injury.

Melbourne City Form

Melbourne City continue to go from strength to strength this season.

City recorded their greatest ever win when they defeated Melbourne Victory 7-0 in the derby. Striker Jamie Maclaren scored a career high five goals.

A 1-1 draw with Macarthur followed. Midfielder Connor Metcalfe scored a rare goal though City were unable to hold on and shared the points.

They quickly returned to the winners list with a 3-1 triumph over Newcastle. Maclaren was once again on the score-sheet as was fellow forward Andrew Nabbout and captain Scott Jamieson.

Melbourne City Injuries & Team News

Right-back Nathaniel Atkinson remains City’s only concern with the defender sidelined with a hamstring injury.
