Perth Glory vs Newcastle Jets Predictions

The Jets have fallen off the pace in recent weeks and face a Perth outfit tough to beat at home. Glory striker Bruno Fornaroli has been in fine form with eight goals this season.

I’m backing BTTS and a Perth win with Fornaroli to score.

  • Perth Glory have seen BTTS in 9 of their last 11 matches (A-League).
  • Perth Glory have won 5 of their last 7 against Newcastle (A-League).
  • Perth’s Bruno Fornaroli has scored 8 goals in his last 11 matches (A-League).
  • Newcastle have seen BTTS in 3 of their last 4 matches (A-League).
  • Newcastle have seen BTTS in their last 3 matches against Perth Glory (A-League).

Head to Head

Perth have a 28-9 record against Newcastle with 10 draws in 47 meetings.

The Jets recorded a 2-1 win in their last encounter with the Glory. Centre-back Nikolai Topor-Stanley opened the scoring from distance, before striker Roy O’Donovan scored the winning goal in the 74th minute.

Perth Glory Form

The Glory play their second straight home game after three consecutive away trips.

Perth looked set to defeat Central Coast after strikers Bruno Fornaroli and Nick D’Agostino gave them a 2-1 lead. But a last minute penalty converted by Mariners saw the points shared in Gosford.

The Glory then went down 3-0 to Western Sydney away from home, before returning home to face reigning champions Sydney.

Fornaroli opened the scoring, though this lead was short lived as the Sky Blues hit back soon after which saw the match finish 1-1.

Perth Glory Injuries & Team News

Defender Osama Malik returned from a shoulder injury against Sydney.

Winger Chris Ikonomidis is still a few weeks away after suffering a knee injury.

Newcastle Jets Form

Newcastle have lost their last four matches and have dropped to second bottom on the table.

The Jets went down 2-1 to Adelaide away from home, with midfielder Connor O’Toole scoring for the visitors.

Despite new recruit Luke Prso opening the scoring the following week against Sydney, Newcastle were unable to fend off the Sky Blues in a 2-1 defeat.

Their woes were then exacerbated in a 4-1 defeat at home in their second meeting with Adelaide United. The score had already blown out to 4-0 before striker Apostolos Stamatelopoulos scored his first goal for the club.

Newcastle Jets Injuries & Team News

Right back Jason Hoffman is in contention to return from a groin injury.

Striker Lucas Mauragis may also be included with the 19-year-old recovering from an ankle problem.
