Head To Head

These two teams last met back in Round 9, with Zac Sapsford opening the scoring in the first minute as the Wanderers registered a dominant 4-1 victory at CommBank.

Wellington Phoenix Form

It's been a hugely disappointing season from Wellington, who have all but certainly missed out on the finals and seen new rivals Auckland topping the table for the majority of the campaign.

Phoenix have won just two of their last 15 games, which sees them languishing in 11th spot on the ladder heading into Round 24, 13 points adrift of the finals positions.

Wellington did at least snap a four-game losing streak just before the break, holding Sydney FC to a 1-1 draw as Kosta Barbarouses scored his ninth goal of the season.

Young goalkeeper Alby Kelly-Heald will miss the remainder of the season after undergoing shoulder surgery.

Western Sydney Wanderers Form

The Wanderers are arguably the hottest team in the A-League as they chase a top two spot with a game in hand behind Western United, who have also won their last four games.

Alen Stajcic's side have transformed into one of the most entertaining teams to watch in the A-League, with the Wanderers scoring a competition-high 47 goals for the season - including exactly four in their last three wins.

Western Sydney edged out Macarthur 2-1 before some thumping wins over Central Coast Mariners (4-0), Perth Glory (4-1) and Melbourne Victory (4-2).

The goals are being shared around, with Nicolas Milanovic leading the way with nine, while Zac Sapsford (7), Marcus Antonsson, Brandon Borrello and Bozhidar Kraev (all 6) also contributing.

Jeong Tae-Wook and Dylan Scicluna are still battling knee and ankle injuries respectively.

Verdict

The Wanderers are one of the form teams in the competition and Phoenix are struggling significantly.

Backing Western Sydney to make it five wins on the trot, with Milanovic a good shout to open the scoring.
