Western Sydney Wanderers vs Brisbane Roar Predictions

Three straight losses puts Western Sydney in a precarious position. Brisbane have a solid record away from home and come in as one of the form teams.

I’m backing over 2.5 goals and Brisbane to win.

  • Western Sydney have lost their last 3 matches (A-League).
  • Western Sydney have seen over 2.5 goals in 6 of their last 7 matches (A-League).
  • Brisbane Roar have won their last 2 matches (A-League).
  • Brisbane Roar have won 4 of their last 6 away matches (A-League).
  • Brisbane Roar have seen over 2.5 goals in 4 of their last 6 matches (A-League).
  • Brisbane have won 3 of their last 4 matches against Western Sydney (A-League).

Head to Head

Both sides have won 11 matches each in the head-to-head with nine draws in 31 encounters.

Their last meeting saw Brisbane come away with a 2-1 win at Bankwest Stadium. Full-back Josh Brindell-South opened the scoring before Japanese import Riku Danzaki sealed the win midway through the second half.

Western Sydney Wanderers Form

Western Sydney’s finals hopes hangs in the balance after losing their last three matches.

After defeating Western United 5-0 at home, the Wanderers got a taste of their own medicine when they were embarrassed in a 5-1 defeat against Perth. The Glory scored three goals in the last 25 minutes to pile on misery for the visitors.

A narrow defeat in the Sydney derby followed, the Wanderers suffering their first defeat to Sydney FC in seven matches when they went down 1-0.

Head coach Carl Robinson was left a frustrated man the following week as his side conceded twice from set-pieces against Wellington. The Wanderers suffered a 2-1 defeat, with their chance of qualifying for the finals significantly reducing.

Western Sydney Wanderers Injuries & Team News

The Wanderers will come into this clash with a fully fit line up.

Brisbane Roar Form

Brisbane remain three points clear inside the top six with three matches remaining.

The Roar’s trip to Adelaide was an unsuccessful one as they went down 1-0 to the Reds. Striker Joey Champness had the chance to bring his side level but missed his penalty in the 39th minute.

But Brisbane managed to quickly rectify this as they defeated Newcastle 2-1 away from home. Japanese midfielder Riku Danzaki opened the scoring, before midfielder James O’Shea fired home the winning goal in the 73rd minute after the Jets had equalised.

A convincing 3-0 win against a weakened Melbourne City side followed, with O’Shea netting two penalties while midfielder Alex Parson scored a rare goal.

Brisbane Roar Injuries & Team News

Defender Josh Brindell-South is out with a shoulder injury, while Gol Gol Mebrahtu will also miss with a groin issue.
