Al Shorta are having a rough start to the Asian Champions League, collecting just three points in seven rounds (three draws and four defeats) while scoring just five times.

After wrapping up 2024 with three straight losses to Al Ahli 5-1, Al Wasl 3-1 and Persepolis 2-1, they managed to snatch a point at Esteghlal earlier this month (1-1).

As for the Iraqi League, Al Shorta claimed a 2-0 home win against Al Kahrabaa last weekend to maintain 2nd place, sitting just one point short of the table leaders Zakho.

Al Ain are the only team to collect less points than their upcoming opponents in the ACL, sitting at bottom of the table with two draws and five defeats (11-20 goal difference).

They had a good start against Al Rayyan two weeks ago, gaining a lead with Alejandro Romero scoring just before the break, but conceded two unanswered goals and lost the encounter 2-1.

Right after that match, Al Ain appointed Vladimir Ivic as the new head manager which resulted in back to back victories against Al Bataeh 2-1 and Kalba 3-1 in the Pro League where they sit in 3rd place (out of the title race).

Home manager Mohamed Azima has no injury or suspension concerns for this match.

As for the visitors, Yahia Nader is suspended.
