Shanghai Port come into Wednesday's crucial Champions League (ACL) contest after back-to-back defeats in their first competitive fixtures of the new year.

The Red Eagles slipped to a 3-2 defeat against city rivals Shanghai Shenhua in the final of the Chinese Super Cup before a heavy 4-0 loss at Vissel in the ACL last Tuesday.

Now placed outside of the qualification positions, Kevin Muscat's side must win and hope results elsewhere fall in their favour if they are to secure safe passage into the next phase.

Port boss Muscat has a strong squad available for Shanghai's final ACL East fixture. Brazilian forward Gustavo is likely to spearhead the Shanghai attack on Wednesday.

Yokohama F Marinos make the trip to China with their place in the next phase already secure after a 1-0 win against Shanghai Shenhua last week. Yan Matheus's first-half goal helped the Marinos claim their fifth win from seven ACL East fixtures.

Steve Holland's side sit second in the section, two points behind leaders Kawasaki Frontale.

Usually involved in high-scoring fixtures, the Japanese side saw both teams score in 18 of their last 22 away matches across all competitions. Over 2.5 goals were scored in 19 of those 22 fixtures.

Yokohama F Marinos Team News

Head coach Holland is unable to call on three long-term absentees this week. Katsuya Iwatake, Kaito Mori and Tsubasa Shibuya are all ruled out for the away side.
