The Indomitable Lions had a poor AFCON tournament earlier this year. They were knocked out in the round of 16.

A 1-1 draw vs Guinea was followed by a 3-1 group stage loss to Senegal. Cameroon beat Gambia 3-1 to progress to the knockout rounds where Nigeria beat them 2-0.

In June’s World Cup qualifiers, they beat Cabo Verde 4-1 at home and drew 1-1 with Angola. On Saturday, they beat Namibia 1-0 in an AFCON qualifier in Garoua.
