Elfsborg are having a solid start to the new Allsvenskan campaign, sitting in 4th position with 19 points after nine rounds, just two points behind the leaders AIK.

Oscar Hiljemark’s side ended the previous month with a 2-0 road loss to AIK but bounced back with two clean victories against GAIS 2-0 (Frederik Ihler and Terry Yegbe finding the net) and Oster 1-0 (Sebastian Holmen on target).

Last weekend, Elfsborg extended their winning run with a thriller 4-3 home win against Brommapojkarna, Leo Ostman scoring a brace.

Djurgarden had an impressive run on the European scene, suffering a 1-0 loss to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge earlier this month which got them eliminated from the Conference League semifinal (5-1 on aggregate).

As for their domestic campaign, Jani Honkavaara’s side played eight matches so far and grabbed just 11 points, occupying 8th position.

After starting this month with a 1-1 home draw against AIK where Markus Danielson converted a penalty in first half, Djurgarden returned to winning ways last Monday with a 2-1 road win at Goteborg.

Mid-week appearance at home against Mjallby was a disaster though, suffering a 3-1 defeat despite gaining an early lead through August Priske.

Elfsborg will be without Arber Zeneli, Jens Jakob Thomsen, and Isak Pettersson for their upcoming clash against Djurgarden. Zeneli and Thomsen are are not expected back until late May, while Pettersson is nursing a groin injury that will likely keep him out until late June.

Djurgarden are dealing with a lengthy list of absentees. Tobias Gulliksen is suspended, while Adam Stahl and Rasmus Schuller are both struggling with thigh issues, ruling them out until late May. Albin Ekdal is recovering from a shoulder injury and isn't expected back until early June. Malcolm Nilsson Saffqvist is sidelined with a dislocated elbow, and Nino Zugelj faces a longer spell out due to a broken foot.
