Energetik-BGU vs Minsk Preview, Predictions & Betting Tips

It’s another Minsk derby in the Belarusian Premier League as Energetik-BGU host Minsk at RCOP-BGU Stadium. These clubs have been involved in high scoring matches with the trend set to continue on Sunday.

Energetik-BGU Form

Energetik-BGU Minsk escaped relegation last season by picking up 17 points from their final eight games. They have kicked on in 2020, beating heavyweights BATE Borisov 3-1 at home with Jasur Yakhshiboev scoring two goals and Dusan Bakic adding a third late on.

Vladimir Belyavski’s side then won 1-0 at Ruh Brest. Daniil Miroshnikov headed home Jasur Yakhshiboev’s corner just before half time and Junior Atemengue missed a great chance to turn home Yakhshiboev’s cross for some breathing room.

Energetik-BGU News

Four players made their Energetik-BGU debuts against BATE with three appearing to be certain starters. Left back Artem Sokol, winger Jasur Yakhshiboev and striker Junior Atemengue have all improved the squad.

Jasur Yakhshiboev has been the standout performer this season, looking very lively and dangerous out wide with two goals and an assist in the opening two league games.

Liberian midfielder David Tweh produced two assists against BATE and forms a strong central midfield partnership with captain Aleksey Nosko.

Minsk Form

Minsk began the season with a 3-1 win at Belshina. They fell behind early on but scored three unanswered second half goals to Oleksandr Vasyliev, Vladimir Khvashchinski and Dmytro Ryzhuk.

Andrey Razin’s side then beat Dinamo Minsk 3-2 at home in an amazing match. Vladimir Khvashchinski scored in the opening minute with Yevhenii Chahovets and Roman Gribovskiy firing home rebounds before half time.

It looked like becoming a rout after Dinamo were reduced to 10 men in the 58th minute but they match went the other way. Minsk conceded in the 77th and 80th minutes and held on for a nervy win.

Minsk News

New defensive signings Dmytro Ryzhuk and Aleksey Zaleskiy continue to start in central defence. 18-year-old left back Dmitri Prishchepa returned to Minsk after six months on loan at Zenit II and is playing at left wing-back in Razin’s back three formation.

Midfielder Oleg Evdokimov was absent last week with Anton Shramchenko coming into the starting side.
