Palmeiras began the new Serie A campaign with a narrow 1-0 win on their travels at Vitoria on Sunday. Colombian Richard Rios bagged his second goal of the season to secure an opening-day victory for the Verdão.

Abel Ferreira has seen his side pick up victories in their last three matches, including a 3-1 Copa Libertadores victory against Uruguayans Liverpool at Allianz Parque last week. Palmeiras have lost just one of their 15 previous matches across all competitions.

Internacional began their Serie A season with a thrilling comeback victory against Bahia on Sunday. Despite conceding to Biel's 70th-minute goal, the hosts displayed their powers of recovery with late strikes from Wesley and Fernando clinching a hard-fought win.

Before Sunday's fightback, Eduardo Coudet's men had drawn four successive matches in the Gaucho 1 and Copa Libertadores.

On the road, Internacional lost eight and won six of 19 Serie A matches played since May 2023.

Head coach Coudet has a near-fully fit squad available for the trip to Sao Paulo. Wesley is likely to earn a recall to the starting XI after his match-winning heroics on Sunday.
