Zamalek vs RS Berkane Preview, Predictions & Betting Tips

Zamalek are tipped to overturn a first leg deficit when they host RS Berkane in the second leg of the CAF Confederation Cup final. The Egyptians have an excellent record at home and are unbeaten in their last six matches, keeping five clean sheets in that run. They are tipped to secure a win against the Moroccans who have lost their last two away matches.

Zamalek SC Form & Team News

Zamalek were beaten 1-0 in the first leg of this tie in Morocco. They put up a sturdy defensive display and successfully kept out the Moroccans before being breached in the fourth minute of added time.

The Egyptians have never won the CAF Confederation Cup and are playing in their first continental final since losing in the CAF Champions League in 2016. Christian Gross' men will be banking on their good home form having won their last four matches in front of their fans.

Zamalek have also maintained an excellent defensive record at home having kept five clean sheets in their last six matches. Central defenders Mohamed Abdel Ghani and Mahmoud Alaa have been pivotal in that run while Omar El Said carries the team's attacking threat.

RS Berkane Form & Team News

Berkane will carry a slim advantage to Egypt after claiming a 1-0 victory in the first leg at home. They were frustrated by the Egyptians for much of the contest before Kodjo Laba sealed the win in the 94th minute.

Mounir Jaouani's men are attempting to win their first continental title and have never played in the final of the CAF Confederation Cup. They will have to improve their away after failing to win any of their last four matches on the road.

Laba is expected to continue in attack for Berkane following his goal in the first leg. The striker had struggled on the road and failed to score in his last three away matches.

Zamalek vs RS Berkane Match Up

Zamalek will consider themselves unlucky to have conceded a late winner in the first leg having stood firm at the back for much of the contest. They will be hoping to go one better with Ghani and Alaa in defence while Omar El Said and Youssef Obama will provide the spark at the other end of the pitch.

Berkane will be banking on Laba for goals on Saturday but the striker often struggles on the road. He is unlikely to get any joy against the Egyptian backline that has looked near impenetrable at home in recent matches.

Zamalek vs RS Berkane Key Statistics

  • Zamalek have won their last 4 home matches (all competitions).
  • Zamalek have kept clean sheets in 5 of their last 6 home matches (all competitions).
  • RS Berkane have lost their last 2 away matches (all competitions).
  • RS Berkane have failed to score in their last 3 away matches (all competitions).

Verdict

Zamalek often do their best work at home and head into Saturday's second leg off the back of four straight home wins. They have also kept five clean sheets in their last six home matches and given Berkane's poor away form, I am predicting a win for the hosts.
