AS Vita Club vs Al Masry Match Preview, Predictions & Betting Tips

Vita Club will look to secure a place in the CAF Confederation Cup final when they host Al Masry in the semi-final second leg at the Stade des Martyrs. The home team earned a draw in the first leg and can book their place in the final in front of their supporters.

AS Vita Club

The Black Dolphins played out a goalless draw in the first leg of this tie away in Egypt. They were the slightly better team in a keenly contested encounter but failed to find the breakthrough despite creating some good opportunities.

Florent Ibenge's team have been impressive in the CAF Confederation Cup this season and are attempting to reach the final of the competition for the first time in their history. They have suffered just one defeat in their last five matches and head into Wednesday's clash off the back of a 4-1 victory over Muungano in the Congolese Super League.

The front three of Chadrack Lukombe, Jean-Marc Makusu and Mukoko Batezadio have impressed for Vita Club this season. All three men are expected to continue in attack on Wednesday with Makwekwe Kupa and Yamnick Bangala tasked with keeping things tight at the back.

Al Masry

The Egyptians were disappointing in the first leg as they laboured to a goalless draw at home. Despite playing in front of their fans, they were largely second best against the Congolese outfit and managed just a single shot on target in 90 minutes.

Hossam Hassan's men are looking to make their first ever appearance in the final of a continental competition. They head to Congo in good form having gone unbeaten in their last five matches, including three wins in that run.

Mahmoud Wadi was disappointing in the first leg but is expected to start once again on Wednesday. The striker should continue as the lone man in attack with Islam Issa and Mohamed Grenfo providing support.

Head-to-Head

The clash in Egypt was the first ever meeting between AS Vita Club and Al Masry.

Match-Up

Makwekwe and Bangala were the stars of the show for Vita Club in the first leg as they helped the team to a clean sheet. Both men successfully shut out the likes of Wadi and Issa and will be confident of a similar performance on Wednesday.

Vita Club also posses some decent quality in attack with Batezadio, Lukombe and Makusu leading the line. All three men are pacy and direct and should trouble Ahmed Abdel Mawgod and Mohamed Koffi in the Al Masry defence.

Key Statistics

  • AS Vita Club have seen Under 2.5 goals in 5 of their last 6 matches (Confederation Cup).
  • AS Vita Club have won their last 9 home matches (Confederation Cup).
  • AS Vita Club have kept clean sheets in 5 of their last 9 home matches (Confederation Cup).
  • Al Masry have seen Under 2.5 goals in 7 of their last 9 away matches (Confederation Cup).

Verdict

Both teams played out a cagey goalless draw in the first leg and Wednesday's clash looks set to follow a similar pattern. Vita Club are solid at home and can do enough to book their place in the final.
