Sunday's CSL encounter marks the 47th meeting between these sides. Beijing boast the H2H advantage, scoring 21 wins to Shanghai's 15.

Shanghai slipped to a 2-1 defeat on their last visit to this venue in August last year, while Beijing picked up a 1-1 draw in their most recent meeting four months ago.

Beijing return to Workers' Stadium this weekend after a disappointing 1-0 defeat at Shenzhen Peng City nine days ago. Ricardo Soares' side endured a poor run of form in July, losing three of four CSl games played over the past month.

Despite recent struggles on the road (Beijing lost four of their last five away matches), the Imperial Guards have a much better record at Workers Stadium. Soares's side won seven and lost just two of ten CSL games played on home soil this season.

Still fourth in the CSL, Guoan find themselves 18 points behind their opponents this weekend.

After another frustrating away defeat, Beijing boos Soares could make some alterations to his selection on Sunday. Yang Liyu and Wang Ziming are among those pushing for a recall to the Guoan first XI.

Nebijan Muhmet is the only expected injury absentee for the home side.

Shanghai Shenhua Form

Shanghai Shenhua arrive in Beijing now unbeaten in 24 matches after a comfortable 2-0 win at Wuhan Three Towns last weekend. Goals from Yang Zexiang and Cephas Malele secured a sixth successive CSL win in a game where both sides were reduced to ten men.

Yet to taste defeat in the CSL this season, Leonid Slutskiy's side claimed victory in nine of their last ten CSL fixtures. Shenhua also picked up wins in each of their last five away matches.

Despite their impressive unbeaten sequence, the Flower of Shanghai sit second in the division, two points behind city rivals Shanghai Port.

Head coach Slutskiy has no new injury issues but will be forced into at least one change to his selection on Sunday. Bao Yaxiong is suspended after his late dismissal against Wuhan.
