Arsenal enjoyed a handsome 5-3 win against Barcelona last week, and I expect Mikel Arteta’s side to score another pre-season victory. I’m backing the Gunners to win with over 2.5 match goals scored at the Emirates Stadium.

Wednesday’s clash will be the fourth match between Arsenal and Monaco.

These sides last met in the UEFA Champions League during the 2014-2015 season.

Monaco won the first leg 3-1 at the Emirates Stadium, while Arsenal won the second leg 2-0 at Stade Louis II. Monaco progressed to the latter stages via the now-defunct away goals rule.

Arsenal returned to spectacular winning form with a 5-3 triumph against La Liga champions Barcelona last week.

The hosts have won two and lost one of four pre-season games, with a 2-0 defeat against Man Utd the only blot on their copybook.

The Gunners could claim their sixth Emirates Cup title on Wednesday. Arteta´s men ran out comfortable 6-0 winners in last summer’s final against Sevilla.

Declan Rice, Folarin Balogun and Oleksandr Zinchenko were injury absentees for the win against Barcelona and remain doubtful for Wednesday’s final.

Leandro Trossard is likely to keep his place in the Gunners’ frontline. The Belgian scored twice in last Thursday’s win against Barca.

Monaco Form

Monaco suffered a miserable to their domestic campaign with five defeats, and just one win in their last seven Ligue 1 matches.

The Red and Whites come into this fixture with three wins and two losses from six pre-season friendlies played this summer.

Adi Hütter’s side finished third in their only previous appearance at the Emirates Cup in 2014.

Recently appointed Austrian boss Hütter is unable to call on the services of sidelined Swiss forward Breel Embolo.

Monaco’s only summer arrival, goalkeeper Philipp Kohn, will likely start between the sticks.

Club captain Axel Disasi will not be involved as he looks set to complete a move to Arsenal’s London rivals, Chelsea.

Verdict

Arsenal v Monaco

Arsenal showed some of their attacking quality in putting five past Barcelona last week. With Monaco leaky defensively and now unable to call on captain Disasi, I expect Arteta’s men to claim another high-scoring win at the Emirates.

I’m also taking Arsenal to win with over 2.5 match goals scored in London.
