Haiti vs Canada Preview, Predictions & Betting Tips

Canada are great value to beat Haiti in the CONCACAF Gold Cup quarter-final at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas. Haiti have lost 2-0 in their last four matches against Canada, I think the Canucks will be too good here with their attack on fire.

Canada have scored 4+ goals in five of their last seven matches including a 7-0 win against Cuba in their last match. I am taking Canada to win at 2.05 and in the -1 and -2 handicap markets in what should be a comfortable victory.

Haiti Form & Team News

Haiti won all three group games at the Gold Cup to reach the quarter-finals. Marc Collat’s side came back from 1-0 down against Bermuda with a Frantzdy Pierrot brace securing a 2-1 win.

Haiti then beat Nicaragua at Toyota Stadium courtesy of Steeven Saba and an own goal. They did it with just 32% possession and would have just 40% in their next match.

Les Grenadiers found themselves 1-0 down against Costa Rica but once again they turned it around. Duckens Nazon equalised from the penalty spot and right-back Djimy-Bend Alexis scored the winner in the 81st minute.

Central defender Mechack Jérôme picked up an injury against Bermuda and hasn’t played since. He and Ricardo Adé have been replaced in the heart of defence by Jems Geffrard and Andrew Jean-Baptiste.

Left back Wilde-Donald Guerrier returns from suspension while right-back Djimy-Bend Alexis is under pressure from Carlens Arcus. We could see Zachary Herivaux return in central midfield and striker Frantzdy Pierrot is also in line for a return.

Haiti are outsiders at 3.80 and can be backed to earn a draw at a 3.30.

Canada Form & Team News

Canada began their Gold Cup campaign with a 4-0 win against Martinique at the Rose Bowl Stadium. Jonathan David bagged a brace with Junior Hoilett and Scott Arfield sealing a convincing victory.

The Canucks then came up against tournament favourites Mexico at Mile High Stadium and suffered a 3-1 defeat. Striker Lucas Cavallini pulled it back to 2-1 in the 75th minute but Canada couldn’t hold on.

Cuba were next up at Bank of America Stadium where Canada romped to a thumping 7-0 win. Jonathan David and Lucas Cavallini scored hat-tricks and Junior Hoilett got on the score sheet. Cavallini also missed a penalty in a match that defined one way traffic.
Manager John Herdman started Alphonso Davies at left-back in a 4-2-3-1 formation against Cuba and should persist with that against Haiti. There is no need to disrupt an attack that scored seven goals.

Canada can currently backed at 2.05 to beat Haiti which represents great value. The Canucks have a much better team than Haiti and their attack is firing on all cylinders.

Canada have scored 4+ goals in five of their last seven matches in all competitions and covered the -2 handicap in all of them. I think Canada can record a resounding win here and am backing them in the -1 handicap at 3.80 and the -2 handicap at 9.00.

Haiti vs Canada Head to Head

Haiti have never beaten Canada, earning 1-1 draws back in 1977 and 1981 but losing the last four encounters 2-0. The latest was at the 2007 Gold Cup, Canada winning 2-0 at Lockhart Stadium thanks to a brace from Dwayne de Rosario.

Haiti vs Canada Match Up

Haiti have been recording narrow wins against weak nations but Canada represent a step up in class. Haiti beat Cuba 2-1 in the Nations League qualification, a team Canada thrashed 7-0 just days ago.

Canada have a strong midfield in Samuel Piette and Scott Arfield with Jonathan Osorio pulling the strings. Up front Jonathan David has scored five goals, Lucas Cavallini four goals and Junior Hoilett has registered two goals and two assists.
