Head to Head

Sheffield Wednesday have a 16-15 advantage against Brentford in 44 meetings with 13 draws. Brentford have won the last three meetings and scored 10 goals.

Brentford Form

Brentford defeated Colchester 1-0 and Leyton Orient 3-1 at home to reach the EFL Cup round of 16.

The West Londoners have scored and conceded 12 in their following five league games since beating Leyton Orient. They are also unbeaten at home, drawing 1-1 with West Ham and beating Wolves 5-3.

Thomas Frank’s team won again at the Gtech on Saturday, coming back from two goals down to beat Ipswich 4-3. Brentford had 4.1 XG and Bryan Mbeumo, Yoane Wissa and an Ipswich own goal completed the comeback victory.

Brentford Injuries & Team News

Defender Kristoffer Ajer is an injury doubt here.

Forwards Igor Thiago and Gustavo Nunes and midfielder Josh Dasilva are ruled out.

Defenders Aaron Hickey and Rico Henry are also unlikely to play due to injury issues.

Top scorer Bryan Mbeumo could be rested. The Cameroon international has scored eight goals in nine starts this season.

Sheffield Wednesday Form

Sheffield Wednesday edged League One side Blackpool to a 1-0 victory in the EFL Cup third round. The Yorkshire outfit also beat Grimsby 5-1 and Hull 2-1 in the previous rounds.

The Owls have won just three of their following seven after defeating Blackpool. Danny Rohl’s side were winless in two following a 2-0 loss at Burnley and 0-0 draw against Swansea.

The winless run ended on Friday with a 2-1 victory at the Championship’s bottom side Portsmouth. Sheffield Wednesday were 1-0 down before Josh Windass and Michael Smith struck after half time.

Sheffield Wednesday Injuries & Team News

Defender Pol Valentin is suspended.

Forward Olaf Kobacki, defender Akin Famewo, midfielder Nathaniel Chalobah and goalkeeper Ben Hamer won’t feature due to injury.

Verdict

Brentford’s home strength is hard to ignore and the Bees are scoring for fun in West London. The Premier League side can outplay an inconsistent Sheffield Wednesday at the Gtech.
