  • Arsenal have won their last 4 matches.

Head to Head

Arsenal have an 85-71 advantage against Newcastle in 195 meetings with 39 draws.

Newcastle Form

Newcastle hold a 2-0 aggregate lead over Arsenal heading into the EFL Cup semi-final second leg. The Toon beat Arsenal 2-0 in the first leg, extending their winning run to four in the competition.

Eddie Howe’s side followed that cup win with a 3-1 win over Bromley and 3-0 victory against Wolves. Newcastle were then thrashed 4-1 at home against Bournemouth and beat Southampton 3-1 away.

Howe’s team suffered consecutive home losses for the first time this season after a 2-1 defeat to Fulham. Jacob Murphy struck in the first half before Newcastle allowed 1.61 XG and conceded two in the second period.

Newcastle Injuries

Striker Callum Wilson and midfielder Joelinton could be in contention following recent injuries.

Defender Jamaal Lascelles and forward Harvey Barnes are both injured and unavailable here.

Arsenal Form

Arsenal’s only defeat in their last 21 matches was the 2-0 first-leg loss at home against Newcastle. The Gunners are unbeaten in seven fixtures in all competitions since that loss, winning five.

The London outfit have won four consecutive matches, starting with a 3-0 victory over Dinamo Zagreb. They followed that win with away triumphs against Wolves 1-0 and Girona 2-1.

The Gunners kept their winning form rolling with a commanding 5-1 home victory against Man City. Arsenal had 1.53-0.74 XG and Martin Odegaard, Thomas Partey, Myles Lewis-Skelly, Kai Havertz and Ethan Nwaneri scored.

Arsenal Injuries

Attacking duo Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus remain sidelined due to injury.

Defender Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasu are also injured and set to miss out.

Verdict

Newcastle have been outplayed at St James’ Park recently and in-form Arsenal can take advantage. The Gunners will be eyeing a big return win in the EFL Cup second leg and an away victory is tipped.
