Premier League club West Ham take on League One Hull City in the Carabao Cup third round at the Olympic Stadium on Tuesday. Will the gulf in class be evident or can Hull pull off an upset in London?

West Ham Form

West Ham started the season with back-to-back Premier League defeats. They were poor at home to Newcastle as they lost 2-0, but were much better against Arsenal as a late Eddie Nketiah goal summoned the Hammers to a 2-1 loss.

Sandwiched in between was a comfortable 3-0 victory over London rivals Charlton the second round of the Carabao Cup. Sebastien Haller scored twice and Felipe Anderson got the third.

West Ham Team News

Mark Noble looks set to miss the visit of Hull with a toe injury, joining Jack Wilshere on the sidelines.

West Ham boss David Moyes made 10 changes for the last round and is expected to give the likes of Haller and Anderson another chance to impress.

Hull City Form

Hull will be playing their sixth game of a hectic start to the season, with just one defeat in the last five games.

Hull defeated Sunderland and Premier League Leeds on penalties to reach this stage of the competition. Since dropping out of the Championship last season, they have also started the League One campaign with wins over Gillingham and Crewe.

Grant McCann's side's only defeat this season came in a EFL Trophy game against Leicester City under-21s when going down 2-1.

Hull City Team News

Long-term injury victim Tom Eaves is the only absentee from Hull's squad. McCann made a number of changes in the last round against Leeds and is expected to freshen things up again. Daniel Batty, James Scott, Lewie Coyle and Alfie Jones are possible starters again.

West Ham vs Hull City Head to Head

Hull won the last meeting between the sides 2-1 in April 2017, but it didn't prevent the Tigers from slipping out of the Premier League. That is one of only two defeats the Hammers have suffered in the last 11 head to heads.

West Ham vs Hull City Odds

West Ham are 1.40 to progress to the fourth round with a win in 90 minutes. Hull are 8.00 outsiders with a draw available at 4.75.

Verdict

West Ham looked a much better side against Arsenal and can see off the threat of an upset. Hull have started the season well, but had trouble on the road last season.
