Blackpool vs Lincoln Predictions

Blackpool come into the League One playoff final in excellent form. Lincoln are in patchy form and have struggled for wins.

I am backing a Blackpool win at Wembley.

  • Blackpool have won 5 of their last 6 matches (League One)
  • Blackpool have won to nil in 6 of their last 9 matches (League One)
  • Lincoln have lost 2 of their last 4 matches (League One)

Head-to-Head

Blackpool have a 34-12 advantage against Lincoln in 56 meetings with 10 draws.

Blackpool Form

Blackpool beat Oxford 6-3 on aggregate in the playoff semi-finals. A commanding 3-0 lead in the first leg helped Neil Critchley’s reach the final after they drew 3-3 in the second leg.

The Seasiders were 2-1 up in 13 minutes as Elliott Embleton and Kenneth Dougall cancelled out Oxford’s opener. Oxford equalised in the second half but Jerry Yates restored Blackpool’s lead before the U’s scored again late on.

The draw ended Blackpool’s run of five consecutive wins in League One. Neil Critchley’s side won all five matches without conceding.

Blackpool have been hard to beat in the second half of the season. They lost two of their last 24 matches, and finished third in League One

Blackpool Injuries & Team News

Defender Dan Ballard is doubtful after coming off with a groin injury against Oxford.

Forwards Grant Ward and Sully Kaikai are also doubtful due to injury.

Lincoln Form

Lincoln edged into the playoff final following a 3-2 aggregate win against Sunderland. The Imps beat Sunderland 2-0 in the first leg and lost 2-1 at the Stadium of Light.

Sunderland scored two quick-fire goals in the first half but Tommy Hooper’s second-half header was enough to send the Imps to Wembley.

Lincoln were on the back foot for most of the match but they created chances against the run of play. Regan Poole hit the post and Jorge Grant missed a penalty in the second half.

Lincoln are winless in five of their last seven League One matches.  A 1-0 win against Shrewsbury was the only win in their last five matches in the regular season, helping them to scrape into the playoffs.

Lincoln Injuries & Team News

Defender Adam Jackson is doubtful following a knock against Sunderland.

Verdict

Blackpool are full of confidence following a good run of form. Lincoln have been unconvincing late in the season and rarely win.

I am tipping the in-form Seasiders to win and secure promotion back to the Championship.
