Gillingham vs Lincoln Predictions

It has been over 10 years since Lincoln recorded a victory against Gillingham. However, they have only met on three occasions in the last decade.

Gillingham are unbeaten since early January and can hold the high-flying Imps on Friday.

  • Gillingham are unbeaten in their last 4 matches (League One).
  • Gillingham have drawn 2 of their last 3 matches (League One).
  • Gillingham are unbeaten in their last 3 matches against Lincoln (all competitions).
  • Lincoln are unbeaten in their last 6 away matches (all competitions).
  • Lincoln have the best away record in League One with 26 points from 33.
  • Lincoln have not conceded more than 1 goal in their last 10 matches (all competitions).

Head to Head

These clubs have met 48 times with Gillingham just shading it 20-16. There have been 12 draws.

Gillingham won 1-0 when the sides met at Priestfield Stadium last season. The return fixture at Sincil Bank ended in a 0-0 draw.

Gillingham Form

The Gills lost six of their seven games between December 8 and January 9. Since then, Steve Evans’ men have gone four matches unbeaten, winning two and drawing two.

Last weekend, Gillingham earned an impressive 2-2 draw at sixth-placed Sunderland thanks to goals from Alex MacDonald and Jordan Graham.

Their last home game was an excellent 4-1 victory over Crewe Alexandra. That day, the goals came from Jordan Graham, Oliver Lee with a brace and Kyle Dempsey.

What will be a concern for Evans is that their 2-2 draw with Sunderland was the first point earned against a top-six side in five attempts this season.

Gillingham Team News

Gillingham have a clean bill of health. Steve Evans brought in five players during the January transfer window.

Defender Robbie Cundy and midfielders Callum Slattery, Olly Lee and James Morton all joined on loan. Goalkeeper Sacha Bastien was signed permanently.

Joe Walsh, Zach Medley, Trae Coyle, Josh Eccles, Declan Drysdale, Joe Lumley and Scott Robertson all left in the transfer window.

Lincoln Form

Last weekend Lincoln suffered their first defeat in eight games as they went down 1-0 at home to Doncaster.

Michael Appleton’s team have climbed to second in League One on the back of winning six of their seven games prior to last weekend's loss.

The Imps have been very successful on their travels recently with five wins and a draw away from Sincil Bank in all competitions in their last six away games.

The draw was on Tuesday at Hull in the EFL Trophy quarter-final. The game finished 1-1 after 90 minutes but Lincoln went on to win 4-3 on penalties.

The last time Lincoln conceded more than one goal in a game was their 4-0 loss to Sunderland back on December 12, and their last away defeat in the league was at Doncaster last October.

Lincoln City Team News

Lincoln have welcomed back Aaron Lewis from his loan spell at Newport County.

The Imps signed defenders Cohen Bramall and Regan Poole and midfielder Max Sanders in the January transfer window.

They have also brought in forward Morgan Rogers on loan from Manchester City.

Leaving Lincoln in January were Alex Bradley, Jordan Adebayo-Smith, Ethan Ross, Zak Elbouzedi, Max Melbourne, Robbie Gotts, and Jamie Soule.

Verdict

Lincoln’s defeat to Doncaster in their last league game may have knocked some of the wind out of their sails. They struggled against Gillingham last season, taking just one point from both games and failing to score in either.

With Gillingham experiencing a slight upturn in form, this one could well be a draw.
