Hull vs Ipswich Predictions

Hull are tipped to return to winning ways against an Ipswich side struggling for goals. The Ipswich fanbase and media have turned against Paul Lambert, the club have slipped to mid-table and the problems are set to deepen.

  • Hull have seen under 2.5 goals in 7 of their last 8 home matches (League One).
  • Hull are undefeated in their last 14 matches against Ipswich (all competitions)
  • Hull have won 8 of their last 9 matches against Ipswich (all competitions).
  • Hull have kept a clean sheet in 6 of their last 7 matches against Ipswich (all competitions).
  • Hull's Mallik Wilks has scored 5 goals in his last 2 games (League One).
  • Ipswich have seen under 2.5 goals in 7 of their last 8 matches (League One).
  • Ipswich have failed to score in their last 2 matches (League One).

Head to Head

Hull have a 19-8 head-to-head advantage over Ipswich, with the two sides drawing 12 of their 39 competitive meetings.

Hull thrashed Ipswich 3-0 away from home earlier in the season, with Malik Wilks, Josh Magennis and Tom Eaves scoring for Grant McCann’s side.

Hull Form

The Tigers are currently on an inconsistent run of form, winning just two of their last seven matches. That includes defeats to Accrington, Burton, and MK Dons.

Within that spell they scored one goal in five matches. But Hull have since scored eight in their last two, so it appears the goal drought is over.

The two Hull are players to watch are George Honeyman, who tops the assist table with 10 in League One, and Mallik Wilks who 14 goals in League One this season.

Wilks have scored five goals in the last two games - a 5-0 win over Wigan and a 3-3 draw with Doncaster on Saturday.

Hull Injuries & Team News

Grant McCann will be without captain Richie Smallwood, Brandon Fleming and Tom Eaves. Martin Samuelson and Callum Jones also doubts.

However, his two main concerns will be the knocks picked up by integral midfield players Greg Docherty and George Honeyman against Doncaster, meaning they are not guaranteed starters.

Ipswich Form

Ipswich started the season well but have won four of their last 16 League One matches, a run which has seen them slip from second to 12th on the table.

Manager Paul Lambert did bring in reinforcements in January, but Ipswich are still struggling to score goals.

They have only scored five goals in their last eight League One matches, which is the main reason they are plummeting down the table.

Ipswich have failed to score in their last two games, which were 0-0 draws with Northampton and Oxford.

Ipswich Injuries & Team News

Paul Lambert will be missing midfielder Flynn Downes who is suspended. Teddy Bishop and Andre Dozzell should continue as the midfield duo.

Gwion Edwards and Mark McGuinness are both set to return after missing the 0-0 draw with Oxford.

Striker Kayden Jackson and midfielder Jon Nolan continue to be excluded, but Ipswich’s main selection issue is finding a striker who can regularly score goals.

Verdict

With Hull needing a win to keep their automatic promotion hopes on track, I can see only one winner here. Ipswich are incapable of scoring goals consistently, and there seems to be little hope of things improving.
